Year Round Magical Horses
These horse below are one that are available in game all year round rather then just Holiday ones like Christmas.
Brinicle

“Jorvik is home to beautiful and majestic breeds from around the world, but the most amazing horses of all can only be found on this island. Horses with manes and tails in rainbow colors beyond imagination, horses that shimmer like jewels or burn with the fury of the elements — these are the Magic Horses of Jorvik!
Sail north west from Jorvik to the archipelago known as the Outer Dapples, and you’ll soon find yourself surrounded by ice floes. It is out there, on the sea ice, that the noble horse known as Brinicle roams.
With its signature frozen mane jutting from its forehead like a crystalline horn, Brinicle is also known as a “Floe Unicorn” by the Wild Wardens who keep watch over the herd. The icy mane can be quite sharp, with Brinicle mares using them to spar and assert dominance in a herd.
Brinicle survives primarily on a diet of lichens, the only plant life that grows on the remote rocky islands it calls home. Occasionally they will supplement their diet with seaweed that they access by piercing the ice with their forelock “horn.”
If you should be so lucky as to touch a Brinicle, do not be alarmed by the lack of body heat. Brinicle is the most cold-blooded of all breeds, with its warmth hidden behind a thick coat and squishy layer of blubber-like fat.
With arctic ice in decline, the future of wild Brinicles is uncertain. Fortunately, the breed is adaptable enough to survive on mainland Jorvik, and can even be quite healthy and happy living around humans. Should you adopt one, make sure it has access to a fresh salt lick and give it frequent brushings with a curry comb.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Brinicle shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical ‘floe unicorn’ form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Brinicle rides just like the North Swedish horses it is descended from.”

No one knows where Pepita, also known as a ‘Gjourd Horse,’ comes from. The mysterious breed tends to show up in late autumn when the leaves have turned and mornings are frosty.
A social breed, herds of Pepita tend to pop up on the outskirts of Jorvik’s agricultural lands. Whatchful farmers hope for a glimpse of the curious horses observing the harvest, as Pepita is considered a good luck omen. In some rural corners of Jorvik, children leave a bucket of candy corn on the edge of fields as an offering of good will.
Pepita has a cozy scent reminiscent of nutmeg and cloves. Its mane is course and grows quickly. While Pepita is and excellent riding horse for all hours of the day, you can tell by the glimmer in its eyes that it most enjoys going for rides at twilight.
Like other Magic Horses of Jorvik, Pepita shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its pumpkin-like form or in disguise, Pepita rides just like the Fjord Horses it most resembles”

Woodear

“Jorvik is home to beautiful and majestic breeds from around the world, but the most amazing horses of all can only be found on this island. Horses with manes and tails in rainbow colors beyond imagination, horses that shimmer like jewels or burn with the fury of the elements — these are the Magic Horses of Jorvik!
The horse known as “woodear” hails from damp forests of Evermist in the far north of Jorvik. It is said to have evolved from Fjord horses that spent a little too much time in bogs rich with pandoric energy.
Long thought to be unrideable, it was only after years of research that a Druid herbalist named Hazel Stamets realized Woodear doesn’t experience sight and sound like other horses, but rather communicates with its herd through a mycelial network in the very ground of Jorvik.
Woodear has a distinctive mulchy odor that, while intense at first, really grows on you. It loves nothing more than long rides in bogs and wet forests. When kept in a stable, Woodear prefers a box close to the shower stall.
Like other Magic Horses of Jorvik, Woodear shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its fungal form or in disguise, Woodear rides just like the Fjord Horses it is descended from.”

Petra

“Across Jorvik stand ancient runestones, the legacy of Druid stonecutters working in Aideen’s name to protect the island. According to legend, a master stonecutter, through the power of the Star Circle, could imbue runestone with life itself! From such miraculous craftsmanship did Petra gallop forth from the earth.
Petra’s hoofsteps can make ground tremble. But as Petra is a gentle soul, they don’t want to see the world destroyed by their thundering hooves. That’s why you can often find Petra standing still as a statue among nature, allowing vines and flowers to grow on their back.
This relaxed attitude makes Petra an easy-going riding partner, happy to meander trails and stop to munch on moss.
But one must never forget Petra’s true nature, as an ancient force of magic born of the land itself. As long as Aideen’s light shines on Jorvik, Petra will live on for centuries to come. To ride one is a gift to bond with this horse is to touch the eternal.
Though Petra have appeared throughout Jorvik, wherever runestones lie, these mythical horses seem to be drawn to the Wildwoods, where Jorvik’s primal magical energies are strongest.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Petra prefers to show its true colors in wild places and conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical for or disguised to blend in with other horses, Petra rides just like the Clydesdales it most resembles.”

Erinys

“Across Jorvik stand ancient runestones, standing tall and proud for centuries, carrying with them the secrets of Druids and Aideen. Sometimes, dark forces can corrupt the sacred runes, crumbling these monuments. It is from these shattered sigils that Erinys was born.
Jorvegian folklore claims that wherever and Erinys walks, they leave a trail of cracked earth behind them. if left unattended for too long Erinys might gallop off, seeking vengeance on those who destroyed the runestones they came from.
Erinys’ fierce and tireless nature makes them a dedicated riding companion, always eager to push their limits and become stronger and faster.
Born in shadow, Erinys hopes one day to be welcomed back into the earth from which it sprung. Perhaps by bonding with this tragic steed, you can help it come a few steps closer to redemption.

Faramawr

“Once upon a time, a down-on-her-luck apprentice stable hand left the safety of home and stable to seek her fortune. Through trials and tribulations, she made her way to the very heart of Jorvik, beyond the fabled Ashlands, into the crater of Garnok’s Fury.
The Young hero returned with two impossibly large gems. Thinking her fortune made, she headed home to present her treasures to the queen, but before her audience, the gems split open, revealing a pair of scaly dragons. In the blink of an eye, the dragons transformed into majestic horses! Called in to present her gift to the queen, the girl had nothing to give but a fantastic tale and two seemingly ordinary horses.
Faramawr the green embodies prosperity and life thriving after disaster, like the fertile soil and new islands formed in the wake of a volcanic eruption. They also represent precious minerals and jewels born of fire. Faramawr reminds us to seize opportunity before it passes by. This is a proud beast who requires hard work and patience before it will go under saddle, and its favor can be lost in an instant if it senses a decline in your bold spirit. But if you rise to the challenge and persist, you will be rewarded with a trusted and devoted friend.
Dragon horses are notoriously vain, which is why they disguise themselves as Friesians, considering the breed the most beautiful and regal of all horses. Few can see through the illusion, and they only choose to reveal their true forms to those they deem worthy.”

Aldrach the Red is the embodiment of nature’s destructive but necessary forces, such as volcanic eruptions. To see the crimson scales of Aldrach is a warning of oncoming disaster, but you will grow stronger if you can pass through the fire. They are passionate, as difficult to control as a volcano, but the rider who perseveres will be richly rewarded with a lifelong companion and new inner strength.

Birkir

“Jorvegian folklore abounds with tales of tree spirits appearing as horses and nearly every tree has its own story.
The Birkir is the horse of birch trees. Encountering a Birkir is a sign of a new beginning after overcoming hardship. They are most common in springtime and regularly aid lost travelers.
As spring crept over the land a grove of birch trees stirred, shaking off their winter slumber. Their waking was disturbed by a traveler in the forest, crossing back and forth.
The trees watched the traveler wander in circles before finally admitting they were lost. The traveler sat at the base of a birch tree, tears welling up in their eyes as they begged for some sign from the forest of where to go.
A breeze blew across the traveler’s cheek. When they turned they saw it was not a tree they were leaning against, but the leg of a horse. The horse was white and black with green leaves budding from its mane. The horse’s gaze offered help. Gratefully, the traveler followed the Birkir to the edge of the wood and made it safely home.
The Birkir takes after the lithe Marwari, as straight and slender as the trunks of birch trees. While they normally resemble birch trees, they can magically disguise themselves as normal horses.
Naturally brave, they are ready to dive into the next adventure with their rider.”

Hanami

“Jorvegian folklore abounds with tales of tree spirits appearing as horses and nearly every tree has its own story.
The Hanami belong to cherry trees and are a symbol of rebirth and herald of spring. Like blossoms, they are a reminder to treasure the beauty of today for it may be wilted and gone tomorrow, but will return again.
Word of Jon Jarl spread all the way to Japan. As a gift of friendship the Emperor sent cherry trees, which were planted in the long-since overgrown gardens of Doyle’s Abbey. The journey was difficult on the trees and it seemed they did not survive the winter, yet when spring came a few pink buds appeared.
With careful tending the trees lived. The garden was a favorite place to celebrate friendship. But the sakura eventually succumbed to the wilderness, the original trees dying until only one was left, and once more it did not seem to survive the winter.Yet when spring came the final tree produced one last giant bud that held a foal of blossoms and bark inside. The foal grew quickly but disappeared when the last cherry blossoms withered away, only to return the following year, happy in the garden.
In modern times, cherry blossom trees on Jorvik are few and far between, but the legend of the Hanami and the gifted sakura saplings lives on.
To the untrained eye, the Hanami appear as a regular Percheron working horse, but to those who are magically inclined, their flowing flowery manes and bark-like coat are a sight to behold.
Depending on their mood they can appear in their natural cherry tree color or as an ordinary horse. They are calm, happy to stop and smell the flowers and take in the natural beauty around them.
As companions they are steadfast and fearless, taking their rider into whatever adventures await.”

Hemera

“As the heat of summer fades the leaves reflect the brilliance of the sun, turning into magnificent golds, oranges, and reds as the days grow shorter. At the turning of the first leaf from green to gold the Hemera arrive from their ancient forest home in north west Jorvik. More than one rider has encountered these unicorns on the Light Ride in Golden Hills Valley among the fallen leaves.
Druids who watch over the wild horses of Jorvik are unsure how these autumn unicorns came to be, speculating a strange mixing of fairy, druid, and nature magic changed the native wild horses into something mystical. Regardless of their origins, these horses have become a sign of autum, with some legends suggesting they are responsible for the changing colors and shortening days. They want to warm the world against the coming winter and every day take a little bit of sunlight to use as paint for the leaves, coloring the trees in fiery colors. Stories say they emerge only during the day and prefer to remain in deciduous forests, where the trees change their colors and drop their leaves.
The Hemera seem to glow with warmth and positive energy, eager to face any new day. They adapt well to change, thriving on new experiences with their friends. Whether in their true magical colors on in disguise, they ride like the Haflingers they resemble.”

Druids who watch over the wild horses of Jorvik are unsure how these autumn unicorns came to be, speculating a strange mixing of fairy, druid, and nature magic changed the native wild horses into something mystical. Whatever their origins, they now emerge as a sure sign of autumn, lingering in the dark and wet places of Jorvik. Some legends even say the Antheia cause fallen leaves to decompose and mushrooms to grow while encouraging the night to last just a little bit longer by keeping the moon and stars company with their glowing. Be it in caves, wetlands, during rain showers, or night time, anywhere mushrooms thrive is rumored to be a place Antheia might be found. More than one rider has encountered these unicorns on the Light Ride in Golden Hills Valley among the glowing mushrooms.

“Phoebe, born under a full moon, was bathed in its radiant light. The glow marked her forever after. The foal was whimsical and joyful and drawn to blooming flowers and pools of clear water.
Phoebe grew up under the watchful eyes of Nanny, the old soul who had tended Phoebe’s mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and oh, who can count back further than that!? Nanny had provided eons of care and guidance to the family of unicorns, for it takes a century for a Foal to mature into her power.
Phoebe never did grow out of her ethereal nature, and to Nanny’s distress, is often so caught up in the beauty of things that she fails to notice any danger of, say, tumbling over a waterfall or wandering into a den of bears.

Ryume

“For centuries, Ryume and Keima played a neverending game of shogi in the grand halls of Marchenghast Castle, always in check but never in checkmate. One day, Keima made a surprising suggestion.
“Ume, the echoes have grown too loud, is it not time we stop?”
“I haven’t won yet!” replied the more stubborn Ryume. “Kei, you’re speaking like a mad king.”
But Keima’s curiosity had outgrown her pride and she resigned the game. In different ways they were both longing for something new, so it wasn’t long before they finally set hoof outdoors and found themselves in Jorvik—Ryume intrigued by riders who can match his fire, and Keima excited for exploration.

“Once upon a time, in the deep dark of Marchenghast Forest, thunderous hooves and roars of fire could be heard. These were the Fendwurms of Marchenghast. A mystical horse breed with the armored skin and fiery breath of a dragon. These formidable creatures naturally caught the eye of the Marchenghast family, and for long, they were great companions.
A Fendwurm chooses its rider carefully and won’t let any fool upon its back. Honor and integrity are principles a Fendwurm rider must uphold. So when the Marchenghast Nobels turned on the witches and beasts, the Fendwurms had no choice but to disown their riders. The Nottsoren is a mystical horse breed that once roamed wild in Marchenghast Forest. The only ones who stood even a chance of touching these horses were the Saltus Witches, as they tended to the Nottsorens’ cuts and scrapes. When the Blight took reign over Marchenghast Forest with its poisonous fog, sharp tendrils of petrified Blight, and blighted beasts, the horses simply could not stay. Summer Daze Magical Horses
The Summer Daze event has loads of nice Summery horses to choose from and here is a list of all the ones released so far.
Umbra

“Lunar cycles on Jorvik are an enigma, but on the special occasion that a new moon brings darkness to the land, the inky unlit night lures out a graceful horse known as Umbra.
Preferring to stick to the shadows of thick forest, Umbra finds its home in the thicket, favoring the faint glow of firefly light to guide their way through the woodland.
Due to its fiery mane, Umbra has a body temperature much higher than other horses and is always eager to break into a gallop, racing after the stars in the night sky.
Jorvegian legend claims that a brooding magical horse used to skulk around the far side of the moon until, one day, the fires of Garnok’s Fury caught its curiosity. The mythical horse fell from the moon into the bubbling volcano, setting its mane ablaze. It is said that the Umbra that wander Jorvik are descendants of this mythical creature and that to this day they gaze longingly at the moon they can never return to.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Umbra shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Wether in its magical form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Umbra rides just like the Andalusians it shares ancestry with.”

“Lunar cycles on Jorvik are an enigma, but on the special occasion that a full moon beams down on the land, the illuminating glow draws out a graceful horse known as Ayla.
Solitary by nature, Ayla sticks to the untamed wilderness of Northern Jorvik and beyond, seeking the brilliant Northern Lights that sway across the sky in a multitude of blues, pinks, and purples, much like Ayla’s magical coat.
Despite their shy demeanor, Ayla are fiercely protective of the people and animals they bond with, perhaps to a fault. Expect some jealousy in your stable if you decide to take home this steadfast beauty.
Jorvegian legend claims that a radiant magical horse used to circle the ring of light around the moon, watching over the people of Jorvik, until one day the being alit to Earth to save their dear friend who had fallen into the fires of Garnok’s Fury. “The swirling seas around the island of Jorvik are teaming with magic and mystery, and from these waters emerge a pearlescent horse known as Tellina.
Whimsical by nature, Tellina prefers to stick to the shallow waters and rocky outcrops of Jorvik’s coast, collecting seashells with a mother-of-pearl sheen that matches their glossy coat.
Because of their affinity for shiny things, Tellina has developed a sharp vision and can spot things from great distances, but this means that they are sometimes easily distracted.
Jorvegian seafarers share fascinating tales of magical sea-horses that only appear when in dire need. When a sailing party gets lost on the seas, they claim to see a pearlescent horse appear on the rocks, their presence calming the troubled sailors.
These horses will stand in the direction of the mainland, guiding the disoriented seafarers back home safely. They call these horses the Tellina, after the sunrise tellin shells their coats resemble.
The origin of these magical horses is a mystery, but some whisper of a once lush islet off the coast of South-East Jorvik, where magic horses roamed free. Until one tragic day when the land sunk into the ocean, leaving the horses without a home. They say the Tellina that have stepped ashore on Jorvik are descendants of the horses from this fabled islet.

“The swirling seas around the island of Jorvik are teeming with magic and mystery, and from these waters emerge an iridescent horse known as Kampos.
You’ll find the serene Kampos in the deepest depths of the ocean, diving underwater in search of hidden treasures on the seabed.
Prolonged swimming in the cool ocean has made Kampos resolute by nature. They are the ideal companions for those who need to keep calm in the face of danger, but this can sometimes be to a fault, as they can be stubborn.
Jorvegian seafarers share fascinating tales of magical sea-horses that only appear when in dire need. In the disastrous event of a shipwreck, the victims that tread the waters often find themselves washed up on the Jorvegian shores completely unscathed.
The last thing they is being pulled out of the seas by a noble iridescent horse, saving them from drowning. They call these horses the Kampos, after the mythological creatures known as the hippocampus.

Dorcha

“In Ireland, legend says butterflies can cross over from the human world to the otherworld. On Jorvik that other place has a different name, Pandoria, and it is a rare breed of magical horse, not butterflies, who cross over…
Dark as the night, Dorcha is known as the guardian of the caves. They are the skittish sort, rarely coming to the surface and avoiding pink cracks that break through the cave floors, unlike their purple-maned counterparts.
Traversing the dim caverns has given Dorcha excellent special awareness, but they can be agitated in open fields as they’re used to the narrow caverns. Stories say that if a traveler gets lost in the winding caves, Dorcha will help, guiding them to the surface but stopping just short of the light.
Their name comes from the Irish word for darkness and mystery, alluding to the temperament of this shy and enigmatic creature. Dorcha’s coat has many ‘eyes’ that closely resemble a peacock’s feathers. Jorvegian storytellers allude this to the peacock butterfly, passing between worlds as the legends tell.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Dorcha shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Dorcha rides just like the Irish Cobs it most resembles.”

Solas

“In Ireland, legend says butterflies can cross over from the human world to the otherworld. On Jorvik that other place has a different name, Pandoria, and it is a rare breed of magical horse, not butterflies, who cross over…
Bright as the break of dawn, Solas is said to pass between this world and another, a reality that lies in tandem with Jorvik. A place of pink skies and floating islands, glowing mushrooms, and panda rays. They reach this otherworld through winding cave systems hidden deep up Jorvik. Their time spent in the pin unreality has affected Solas’ metabolism, giving them seemingly boundless energy. Jumping between floating islands has also made them surprisingly fleet-footed.
Their name comes from the Irish word for brightness and illumination, much like the horse’s vibrant coat and personality. Solas’ coat has many ‘eyes’ that closely resemble a peacock’s feathers. Jorvegian storytellers allude this to the peacock butterfly, passing between worlds as the legends tell.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Solas shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Dorcha rides just like the Irish Cobs it most resembles.”

Halloween Magical Horses
Although we don’t like the Halloween event others do and therefore here is a list of all the Halloween Magical Horses released so far.
Tombhoof

“All Hallows’ eve. On this day, the veil between the world of the living and the departed is the thinnest. Spirits can pass from our world to and theirs as they please. On the island of Jorvik, this is when Tombhoof can roam freely.
Tombhoof are the forgotten spirits of horses who once lived. They come to Jorvik to be remembered. By bonding with a human, they get a chance to live again, in their own spectral way.
Tombhoof is found in the lush green of the Forgotten Fields, where many a Jorvegian has claimed to see a ghostly herd of horses, roaming among the midnight mists.
The ghostly nature of Tombhoof has turned them into quite shy creatures, so it will take a while for them to warm up to you and the other horses in your stable. But once you do become friends, you gain loyalty and devotion like no other.
On Jorvik, death is not something to be feared. It is a part of the cycle of life. Nature dies in the winter to bloom again in the spring. People say goodbye to their loved ones, but they are kept alive through memories. And the horses of Jorvik become one with the Earth [sic], only to come back as the legendary Tombhoof and roam the lands once more.
Magic Horses on Jorvik are creatures of stories and folklore. As the tales are passed down over the ages, the legends of these horses have been kept alive.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Tombhoof shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Tombhoof rides just like the American Quarter Horse it most resembles.”

Duskgrim

“Jorvik is rich with tales of nature spirits appearing as horses. Two of those spirits are strongly linked to grim stories reminding the listener that appearances are deceiving. The Duskgrim of the barren mountains look deadly even though they come to help. On the flip side the Songsorrows seem tame, even pitiful, until it is too late to escape the vicious water horse.
Myths tell of a horse followed by ravens descending to Jorvik and appearing to an unsuspecting person. The inky black horse charges at the human, the fearsome appearance and cawing ravens driving the person away in terror. Later the person finds tragedy has struck, unaware the Duskgrim appeared to help guide them from disaster. The well meaning spirit is treated as an omen of doom, their mere presence bringing despair even though they come to help. Despite the grim legends a white Duskgrim is good luck, a messenger from fate of a bright new dawn. Even with positive associations, like luck and the day night cycle, Duskgrim are largely seen as spirits surrounded by death, though they are never the cause.
As a legend intrinsically tied to Jorvik’s landscape it is no surprise that they appear as Jorvik Wild Horses. They use illusions to appear as normal pale horses when traveling from their mountain peak home but reveal their true colors to those they trust.
Like ravens, Duskgrims are incredibly intelligent and social, perhaps unaware of the stories they are a part of. They reward those who show them kindness with unwavering loyalty. Earning the trust of a Duskgrim is to earn a friend for life, and perhaps beyond.”

Songsorrow

“Jorvik is rich with tales of nature spirits appearing as horses. Two of those spirits are strongly linked to grim stories reminding the listener that appearances are deceiving. The Duskgrim of the barren mountains look deadly even though they come to help. On the flip side the Songsorrows seem tame, even pitiful, until it is too late to escape the vicious water horse.
The Songsorrows are Jorvik’s waters given threatening form. Nearly every beach, river, and lake has at least one story of a Songsorrow. In some accounts the water source was created by the horse’s tears after losing their rider, and now the spirit waits for their rider’s return, crying a haunting song that lures the unsuspecting onto their back. The person may be released when the Songsorrow realizes the human on their back is not the one they are waiting for. The other possibility is the Songsorrow, in a grief stricken rage, will drag the human into the water never to be seen again. Deadlier waters tend to have stories of Songsorrows not driven by mourning but malice, using their song to intentionally draw in victims who rarely escape a watery grave. The main similarities across all the legends is that the spirits sing and create sorrow, intentionally or not.
As a legend intrinsically tied to Jorvik’s landscape it is no surprise that they appear as Jorvik Wild Horses. They disguise themselves as beautiful, if otherworldly, white horses to hide their true watery appearance. Seeing their true form is a sign of trust, whether as a friend or as a victim who won’t share the secret is up to you.
Songsorrows, as embodiments of water, are versatile in temperament. They can be calm or dangerous, frozen or boiling, and should be treated with caution. To befriend a Songsorrow is no easy task as they are willful creatures, demanding time and patience to overcome their emotional and volatile nature.
Or perhaps you are the one they have been waiting for all this time?”

“One stormy night, an evil Dark Core scientist entered a lab that looked suspiciously like a stable. He carried a stolen beaker of Drakonium. He walked the length of the building, chose his subject, applied the Drakonium, and then threw open a window to let in a bolt of lightning!
A maniacal laugh echoed throughout the strange laboratory as a robotic horse became aware of his existence. Terrified and confused, the horse kicked out of his restraints and crashed past the evil scientist into the lashing rain.
‘Monstrous creature!’ cried the evil scientist. ‘Return to do as I command!’

He strolled over to his carousel. When his gaze fell upon the most beautiful horse, he felt a spark of dark inspiration.
He journeyed to Devil’s Gap to siphon a measure of the potent energy. He returned to the horse, anointed her with the substance, and spoke a strange incantation into her ear.
There was a crack of splintering wood as the horse broke free from her imprisonment and ran from the carousel’s platform. “Stop!” screamed Ydris. “You’re mine! I gave you LIFE!”

Christmas Magical Horses
WE LOVE ALL THEESE HORSES! Below is a full list of every Christmas Magical Horse released so far.
Fawncy

“Jorvik is home to beautiful and majestic breeds from around the world, but the most amazing horses of all can only be found on this island. Horses with manes and tails in rainbow colors beyond imagination, horses that shimmer like jewels or burn with the fury of the elements — these are the Magic Horses of Jorvik!
When riding through the wintery woods near Meander Village, the shy deer you glimpse hiding in the brush might not be a deer at all. It might be the most beloved of Jorvik’s magical horses – Fawncy!
This spotted wonder seldom leaves its woodland home, preferring the company of rabbits, skunks, and foxes to other equines. To better avoid forest predators, Fawncy has evolved to be almost completely odorless. Even resting, it’s heart beats twice as fast as a normal horse, which amplifies its skittish character.
Fawncy prefers a diet of ferns, clover, shoots, and especially wild berries, but when kept in a stable, they adapt readily enough to hay. Solitary by nature, if Fawncy must be in a stable, it would rather be in a box as far from other horses as possible and definitely away from any dogs.
Like other Magic Horses in Jorvik, Fawncy shows its true colors in wild places and will conceal its appearance in populated areas. Whether in its magical “roebuckskin” form or disguised to blend in with other horses, Fawncy rides just like the Andalusians it is descended from.”

Heidrun

“The mountain ranges of Jorvik area mysterious place, with steep summits, profound gorges, and pockets of hidden valleys. Few animals thrive in this rocky environment, one of them being the legendary horse known as Heidrun.
With deft hooves and agile limbs, Heidrun scales the Mountains of Jo r with the ease of a mountain goat. Preferring the fresh air of higher elevations, Heidrun has made a home in the ranges. If you’re lucky enough to catch a glimpse of this mythical creature, chances are its from a great distance.
The snow leopard-like spots on Heidrun’s coat blend them into the stony rock faces, allowing them to slink about the mountains undetected. This gives them the advantage to do what they do best: protect the other wild animals from danger.
Being a lone wolf of the mountains, Heidrun finds it hard to get along with humans and other animals. But what they Lack in amiability, they make up for tenfold in loyalty and audaciousness.
Magic Horses on Jorvik are creatures of stories and Folklore. As the tales are passed down over the ages, the legends of these horses have been kept alive.

Shadowshield

“One winter night a woman was traveling home through a forest. Brigands found her, but before she was robbed a mare appeared from the darkness. The woman climbed onto the offered back and the mare raced away, chased by the bandits. When the mare reached open fields illuminated by starlight she stopped, the woman frozen in fear as the robbers neared. But the brigands galloped past, the mare creating a shield of darkness that hid her and the woman. With the danger gone the mare carried her rider home. The woman thanked her savior with food and a warm stall to rest in, and in the morning the mare was gone. The woman no longer found winter nights cold, and she never lost her way at night again.
Shadowshield is one of Jorvik’s night spirits, a kind horse who guards those who venture into the darkness. She is happiest when racing with the Snowdancer stallion, as they are the snow under a clear night sky, glittering in the starlight. Every winter they meet, dancing and running together through and above the snow, the darkest night of the year meeting with the brightest white snow.
Shadowshield takes the form of an Arabian, a breed as enduring as the night sky. Like other magical Jorvegian horses they can disguise their true colors and gold markings, especially if they don’t trust a person. They are gentle and protective, tending to stay back and quietly observe. They respond to praise and gratitude, glad when their efforts are rewarded. If you match their gentleness and appreciate the silent moments, you will find the Shadowshield is a natural guardian and life long companion.”

“A wealthy man once lost his way in the first winter’s snow. He was sure he would perish until a beautiful stallion appeared, white, black, and gold. The stallion urged the man onto his back and carried him home, leaving no hoofprints as the steed ran on top of the snow. The man was taken by the gold markings on his savior, and instead of gratitude tried to possess the horse as another item amongst his riches. But when the snow melted the horse was gone, along with all the man’s possessions.
Snowdancer is one of Jorvik’s winter spirits, a benevolent but proud horse that does not take insults lightly. He is at his most breathtaking when running with the Shadowshield mare, as they are the snow under a clear night sky, glittering in the starlight. Every winter they meet, dancing and running together through and above the snow, the darkest night of the year meeting with the brightest white snow.
Snowdancer takes the form of an Arabian, delicate enough to walk over snow when not playing in snow drifts. Like other magical Jorvegian horses they can disguise their true colors, especially if they don’t think a person is worthy. They are a horse that appreciates manners and gratitude, easily developing grudges when insulted. They enjoy flattery, pleased when their beauty and ability is praised. As many horses have done over the centuries, Lebkuchen made his way to the haven of Jorvik. His companion, a gnome called Gumdrop, helped him remember the witch they encountered and the Gingerbread Spell she cast upon them. Thank goodness they weren’t eaten. Vetle found something magical about Jorvik, especially when it began to snow. It reminded her of her youth. ‘It’s no wonder that a winter traveler would choose to stop and rest here,’ she thought. She stood in reverie for such a long time that she began to take on the features of an ice sculpture.

“We look so different from their horses. What if they don’t like us?” asked Hjortensia.
“What if they do?” replied Earik.
“Let’s try it,” they agreed. They bid their families goodbye, invited their pets Hjart and Nisse along, and followed the aurora borealis to the Winter Village.”

Sól

“Far away and long ago, the sun and the moon chased across the skies, playing an everlasting game of tag with their companions Sköll and Hati. Weaving between stars, soaring across planets, they cast day and night upon Earth.
“You’ll never catch me!” the sun called out to her brother.
“Just you wait!” the moon challenged.
For eons, all was well. Until one day, when the celestial bodies suddenly collided! A piece of them each broke loose and landed in Aideen’s hands. Carefully, she molded them into graceful Andalusians. The sun was made into the glimmering Sól, and the moon the starry Máni. Then, she let them loose onto Jorvik.
Now, they carry a piece of the celestial sphere with them as they give chase across Jorvik. Weaving between trees, soaring across rivers, Sól and Máni are unstoppable.”
