<p class="has-medium-font-size">AWe really enjoy Kirby games here so we had to check out this reboot of a Wii classic Kirby game, Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe. Even though the original is nearly 20 years old, the Deluxe version is a significant upgrade. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The upgraded characters, new abilities, and tons of bonus content make this reboot totally worth the cost of admission. It takes everything great from the original and takes it to a new level of fun. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1193" height="680" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11.png" alt="Kirby's return to Dreamland Deluxe screenshot" class="wp-image-87744" style="width:810px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11.png 1193w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-300x171.png 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-1024x584.png 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-768x438.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1193px) 100vw, 1193px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-82582eec"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Why Kirby&#8217;s return to Dreamland Deluxe?</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If you loved the original, then there&#8217;s no reason you won&#8217;t love the remake. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a glorious return to one of the best entries in the Kirby franchise, with an extra layer of sugar sprinkled polish to the characters. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Anyone who enjoys Kirby side scrolling games is going to enjoy this one. The charm, co-op chaos, and copy ability craziness is expanded in this remake. The colorful levels and super special abilities alone make this game appealing to any Kirby fan.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-cbb14539"><h3 class="uagb-heading-text">How We tested Kirby&#8217;s return to Dreamland Deluxe</h3></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://familygamesquad.com/about/how-we-test-games/" class="ek-link">We tested</a> this game with 1 player, 2 players, 3 players, 4 players, 5 players, and 6 players. It was best with 4 players and no computer players. Adding computer players actually lowered our chances of Success!</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">When we played with 5 or 6 players it was a lot to keep track of on the screen. But there was some improvement over previous versions. Keeping all the players on one large screen helps tremendiously.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">When we played with 1 player, many games were fine. There were a lot of co-op games the computer players were no help at all. I had no problem beating the computer players on player vs player games.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="584" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/11/waddle-dee-mask.jpg" alt="park-staff waddle dee mask" class="wp-image-83844" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/11/waddle-dee-mask.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/11/waddle-dee-mask-300x171.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/11/waddle-dee-mask-768x438.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-4a5c5f06"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Comparable Games</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Return to Dreamland is obviously comparable to the original. Plus games like Kirby Star Allies. The low resolution graphics from the original game are eliminated with the updated graphics. A visual treat compared to the original.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">New abilities such as Mecha and Sand are added to Kirby&#8217;s arsenal. The Mech ability alone makes this game worth checking out. It isn&#8217;t Mechwarrior 5, but Kirby&#8217;s Mech ability lets you feel like a total juggernaut. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The five super special abilities take up practically the entire screen and hit everything seen and some things not seen. These giant swords, bullet, hammer, and flame attacks are so satisfying to employ. A major upgrade from the original.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The bonus content is another great addition from the original. After completing the main quest, bonus features such as Merry Magoland and the Magalor Epilogue. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Merry Magoland is a collection of mini games. We enjoyed most of the games and can&#8217;t say there were any klinkers. Our favorite part of the Merry Magoland was unlocking all the masks we could wear back in the main levels of the game.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The Magalor Epilogue sends Magalor on a quest to regain his magic. He starts off weak but gains back all his power and abilities for the final boss. The epilogue includes the greatest boss battles found in any Kirby game. Solo they can be a challenge, but four players pounding away takes the edge off a bit. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-599eb598"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Pros and Cons</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Apart from the upgraded look, the best part is the bonus content. Magalor&#8217;s Epilogue is about one third of the length of the main game. However, gradually gaining back strength throughout the levels makes it a lot of fun to play.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">As mentioned before the Mech ability is awesome. All five super special abilities are terrific. The Magalor assist makes the game a bit easier.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The sheer number of levels is impressive too. A con would be: they are too easy to begin with and all but a few don&#8217;t present much of a challenge. The ice level where you need to use a hopping boot to cross gave us some trouble. Plus the race to get past all the spikes while a crushing wall was following you took a couple tries. Other than those, overall it wasn&#8217;t what I would call challenging.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">But it&#8217;s a Kirby game! They&#8217;re about colorful levels and characters, goofing around, and collecting all the trinkets. Not about challenging jumps and attacks. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="585" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-6.png" alt="Kirby's return to Dreamland Deluxe screenshot" class="wp-image-87739" style="width:810px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-6.png 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-6-300x171.png 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-6-768x439.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-bed309d8"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Review Summary</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a joyful, sugary blast of nostalgia with enough new content to keep things fresh. Our Return to Kirby Dreamland Deluxe review gives it 9 out of 10 stars. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The game is just a visual treat. It goas back and forth between lovable characters floating through chaos to Kirby turning into a screen clearing tornado of destruction. It&#8217;s not the most difficult game out there, but Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe is definitely one of the most enjoyable games out there.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If joy had a physical form, it would probably look like Kirby: round, pink, and capable of inhaling everything in sight.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">As if there aren&#8217;t enough Kirby games out there, Super Kirby Clash is another variation of a Kirby game. Only this one is free. The old saying, &#8220;You get what you pay for&#8221; applies here. It&#8217;s basically a free version of Kirby Fighters 2. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Super Kirby Clash feels more like a test case for making money on a free game than an actual video game. The amount of time it stops in the middle of a battle and asks for more gem apples, the game&#8217;s form of currency, is very annoying. I swear they time it just so the boss only needs two or three more hits to win.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">It reminds me of when arcade games started asking for more quarters just to continue playing. Coincidentally, that&#8217;s also just before arcades went belly up. I remember getting a lot of play time on one quarter, then arcades inexplicably started asking for 3 or 4 quarters just to play. Other games started with one quarter then required a steady stream of quarters to continue. No wonder arcades went extinct.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Super Kirby Clash feels like an experiment. One I&#8217;m glad to say failed. They give you the game for free then see how much money they can suck out of you to keep playing. Sounds fun, huh? The constant interruptions asking for more gem apples totally ruins the experience. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Just get Kirby Fighters 2, it&#8217;s basically the same game minus the repetitive interruptions asking for more money. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-82582eec"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Why Super Kirby Clash?</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The only reason anyone would be interested in Super Kirby Clash is because it&#8217;s a Kirby game and it&#8217;s free (at first). We love other Kirby games such as Kirby Star Allies, Kirby Fighters 2, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. All solid games.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Which is why we were excited to try Super Kirby Clash. It&#8217;s kinda fun at first. The interruptions asking for gem apples isn&#8217;t annoying at first. After a while the interruptions are hard to ignore and the obvious attempts at making money are infuriating.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">I suppose if you really want a free game and don&#8217;t mind all the interruptions, then you&#8217;d like Super Kirby Clash.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-cbb14539"><h3 class="uagb-heading-text">How We tested Super Kirby Clash</h3></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://familygamesquad.com/about/how-we-test-games/" class="ek-link">We tested</a> Super Kirby Clash with 4 players. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419150000-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-1024x576.jpg" alt="Super Kirby Clash screenshot" class="wp-image-87757" style="width:807px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419150000-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419150000-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419150000-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-768x432.jpg 768w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419150000-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-4a5c5f06"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Comparable Games</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Super Kirby Clash is incredibly similar to Kirby Fighters 2. I have a sneaking suspicion they&#8217;re actually the same game. It seems to me since Super Kirby Clash was a bomb, they mixed it up a bit and released it under a new name: Kirby Fighters 2. A game which was inexpensive and didn&#8217;t get as much attention as most Kirby games.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Everything about Super Kirby Clash feels like Kirby Fighters 2. The upgrades, items, moves, mechanics, and bosses. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-599eb598"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Pros and Cons</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Super Kirby Clash feels like you&#8217;re constantly lagging behind in skills and power. You regularly get the upgrade or item you need after you need it. Like I could have really used that during the last battle. It never fails, after you pay gem apples to revive, a healing item shows up.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The whole game feels like that. You get to level up after every boss battle, yet the next boss must have upgraded too. It never feels like you&#8217;re more powerful as the game progresses. You&#8217;re continually run out of time if you play defensively, or out of life if you play aggressively.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Super Kirby Clash is a very frustrating game. It seems you&#8217;re always spending gem apples faster than you can earn them. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The only pro is it&#8217;s free to start. I suppose if you open it regularly to stock up on gem apples, it would be fun until you ran out of gem apples. I refuse to pull out my credit card just to continue playing a game.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419153800-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-1024x576.jpg" alt="Super Kirby Clash screenshot" class="wp-image-87748" style="width:808px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419153800-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419153800-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419153800-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA-768x432.jpg 768w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2025080419153800-0DB172DD733179C0091C3FD49201B5AA.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-bed309d8"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Review Summary</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Our Super Kirby Clash review gives it 4 out of 10 stars. It&#8217;s free to start, but quickly reveals its greedy cash grab mechanics. As for the fighting, it&#8217;s actually a lot of fun. My recommendation is to just buy Kirby Fighters 2 instead and play without the corporate pan handling.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">You can never have enough Kirby games, so of course we got Kirby Fighters 2. This game showcases Kirby and his friends fighting abilities. No side scrolling here, just a pure fighting game. Kirby games might be cute and seem geared toward the younger crowd but I totally enjoy this game even though I&#8217;m a bit older.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">To me, it&#8217;s like Super Smash Bros without the possibility of falling off the platforms. Kirby Fighters 2 has tons of characters, moves, and settings for the fights to take place. There&#8217;s no shortage of cute characters, including our favorite Waddle-Dee. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Waddle-Dee isn&#8217;t a pushover either. He can spin his spear and take flight. Every character has their own special moves to try out and combos to take advantage of. There are also a ton of locations to pick from. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Many familiar locations make their appearance in Kirby Fighters 2, plus some new ones. Locations have built in hazards which can be turned off. But dodging huge robots or lava pits is so much fun I don&#8217;t know why anyone would turn off the hazards.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The game isn&#8217;t just about fighting each other, there&#8217;s also a story mode. You can play solo or with a friend battling your way to the top of the tower. The bosses get progressively harder as you go.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Along the way you&#8217;ll find not all characters are created equally. Certain characters, like Magalor, have a lot more to offer compared to bomb Kirby. It turns out blocking and dodging are more important than I thought. But certain characters are very simple, while others take a lot of skill to master.</p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-82582eec"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Why Kirby Fighters 2?</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Because you like fighting games and don&#8217;t want a side scroller or racing game. Kirby Fighters 2 is a great fighting game. In some ways I like it better than Super Smash Bros. Mainly because Kirby Fighters 2 doesn&#8217;t require too much skill. Anyone can pick it up and have fun. While Smash Bros is definitely the more advanced fighting game.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If you want a lot of characters to choose from, Kirby delivers. Kirby plays as an archer, wrestler, and even uses a yo-yo to battle. Meta Knight, King DeDeDe, Magalor, and our favorite Waddle-Dee are available as well. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The story mode is basically a long string of battles meant to unlock characters, items, and power ups along the way. For a fighting game, the story mode is actually pretty good. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1193" height="680" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11.png" alt="Kirby's return to Dreamland Deluxe screenshot" class="wp-image-87744" style="width:810px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11.png 1193w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-300x171.png 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-1024x584.png 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/kirby-11-768x438.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1193px) 100vw, 1193px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-cbb14539"><h3 class="uagb-heading-text">How We tested Kirby Fighters 2</h3></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://familygamesquad.com/about/how-we-test-games/" class="ek-link">We tested</a> this game with 2 players in story mode and 4 players in battle mode. We also tested it with computer players in story mode. It was best with real players and no computer players.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021091920302100-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-1024x576.jpg" alt="Kirby Fighters 2 screenshot" class="wp-image-87705" style="width:807px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021091920302100-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021091920302100-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021091920302100-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021091920302100-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-4a5c5f06"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Comparable Games</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Fighters 2 is most comparable to Super Smash Bros. In fact, Kirby Fighters is based on the same engine as Smash Bros. The jump button isn&#8217;t the same but most of the mechanics are the same. If you&#8217;ve ever played Smash Bros then you&#8217;ll Kirby Fighters 2 will be familiar.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Fighters 2 adds features such as revival. Instead of being eliminated in Smash Bros, your character appears as a ghost. If you&#8217;re able to land a strike on another live character then you will revive. Each player only has one life compared to three in Smash Bros. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The stage hazards feature in Kirby Fighters 2 are no small matter either. You&#8217;ll be dodging strikes from a large robot in the background to King DeDeDe throwing things at you depending on the stage. Stages in Kirby Fighters 2 are more diverse and numerous than Smash Bros. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Fighters 2 offers 22 different playable characters. Which isn&#8217;t as many as Smash Bros, but the Kirby characters have distinct differences. Meaning, there aren&#8217;t as many but the ones Kirby does have are a wide range. Characters come with yo-yo&#8217;s, bombs, arrows, a spear, a sword, or just their bare hands. There&#8217;s definitely a variety of range and types of attacks. Gooey mainly uses his tongue to attack. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-599eb598"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Pros and Cons</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">One pro is the price. Kirby Fighters 2 is much less expensive than Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Kirby Fighters 2 almost seems like an expansion pack to Super Smash Bros fighting games.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The items, revival, and hazards add to the fun. Some may turn off the revival, but we enjoy chasing each other around as ghosts trying to revive.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The items include bombs, pom-poms, food for healing, a huge microphone, and missiles to name a few. These items definitely keep the action to a maximum. Dodging the stage hazards also keep things popping, without it being too intense. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">One con is the story mode is a bit challenging. There isn&#8217;t any second chance to beat all 50 levels. You have to start all over if you fail. Choosing power ups and items along the way is great. But should you fail you lose it all and have to start over.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Another con is the character balance. After beating all 50 levels a few times we noticed not all characters are created equal. Certain characters have an easier time than others at going the distance. Waddle-Dee, Bell Kirby, Gooey, and Wrestler Kirby are fairly strong characters. We struggled to go all 50 levels with Bomb Kirby, Painter Kirby, and Hammer Kirby. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100113470800-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-1024x576.jpg" alt="Kirby Fighters 2 screenshot" class="wp-image-87702" style="width:808px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100113470800-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100113470800-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100113470800-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100113470800-004D3251E0841A75D411CACEA52D48A1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-bed309d8"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Review Summary</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Our Summer Party Time review gives it 8 out of 10 stars. For a fighting game, it&#8217;s actually a lot of fun. There are many fighting styles to choose from, the story mode is compelling since you get to choose upgrades after each fight, and the extra features such as revive make it an egaging game.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">For the price you can&#8217;t go wrong. Kirby Fighters 2 is definitely worth the price if you like games like Smash Bros Ultimate. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>Kirby Star Allies</strong> was one of first few games in our library of Nintendo Switch games. We tried the demo first and then the full game because we loved it so much. It&#8217;s a 4 player side scrolling game, similar to Sonic or Mario games. Only this 4 player game is incredibly colorful and not as difficult. Kirby Star Allies is no less fun though. It has plenty off boss battles, secret passages to discover, items to collect, and most importantly, friends to make along the way.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The friends aspect sets Kirby apart from the Mario and Sonic worlds. Not that Sonic or Mario don&#8217;t make <em>any</em> friends along the way, just that Kirby&#8217;s friend making abilities are second to none. Healing, revival, and special abilities are part of being friends. Kirby even turns several bosses into allies after the battle.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Star allies is a lighthearted side scroller with plenty of action. At times, there&#8217;s so much going on during the battles it&#8217;s hard to keep track of what&#8217;s going on. I noticed when the three mage sisters are doing their special attack it takes up the entire screen. It&#8217;s both hilarious and frustrating. </p>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-82582eec"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Why Kirby Star Allies?</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If you like side scrollers with boss battles like Sonic or Super Mario Bros, then you&#8217;ll love Kirby Star allies. This game may seem to be geared toward the younger crowd but it&#8217;s still an incredibly rich game. There&#8217;s as many attacks and special abilities as Super Smash Bros. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The levels themselves are fairly easy and the bosses don&#8217;t require memorizing difficult attack patterns. Mostly, you just keep up an attack while occasionally dodging strikes. If you like uncomplicated games, then Kirby Star allies is a good choice. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Star allies is meant to be played with friends. Even if you want to play solo you can add 3 more computer players. Kirby needs allies for certain parts of the game so it&#8217;s necessary to have at least one ally on your journey. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If you&#8217;re looking for an incredibly challenging game such as Sonic Frontiers or Mario Oddessy, then I don&#8217;t think Kirby Star Allies is a good option. Kirby Star allies is a fun game, but I don&#8217;t consider it a challenging game. My challenge is mostly staying awake.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1280" height="720" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/09/Waddle-Dee-Train.jpg" alt="Waddle Dee Train" class="wp-image-81616" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/09/Waddle-Dee-Train.jpg 1280w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/09/Waddle-Dee-Train-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/09/Waddle-Dee-Train-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/09/Waddle-Dee-Train-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></figure>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://familygamesquad.com/about/how-we-test-games/" class="ek-link">We tested</a> Kirby Star Allies with 1 player, 2 players, 3 players, and 4 players. In my opinion, this game is best with 4 players and no computer players.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1280" height="720" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100107574800-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713.jpg" alt="Kirby Star Allies screenshot" class="wp-image-87692" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100107574800-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713.jpg 1280w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100107574800-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100107574800-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2021100107574800-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-4a5c5f06"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Comparable Games</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Star allies is similar to other popular side scrolling games. Sonic Superstars and Super Mario Bros Wonder being the latest of many side scrollers. Kirby has the basics for any side scroller, such as jumping and attacking. However, Kirby also has floating, eating, healing, and many, many special attacks.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby isn&#8217;t as fast paced as the Sonic games, but that means all the players stay on the screen. Sonic Wonder routinely loses other players off screen, which isn&#8217;t a problem for Kirby.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The bosses or levels in Kirby aren&#8217;t as difficult as either Sonic Superstars or Super Mario Bros Wonder. The only hard bosses in Kirby are the final boss and the mage sisters. But you can revive players during the battles in Kirby.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby seems simple compared to the complexity of Mario Wonder. It doesn&#8217;t make Kirby less fun, just different. Kirby just keeps the levels and bosses simple.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">One thing about Kirby, there&#8217;s no shortage of characters and special attacks. Depending on the character, they can also upgrade their attacks with fire, water, wind, or electricity from an ally. Players can also &#8220;stack&#8221; on each other for an additional attack.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Unlike Sonic Superstars or Mario Wonder, Kirby brings in a lot of the fighting aspect. I noticed the boss fights are remarkable similar to Kirby Fighters. If you&#8217;ve played Kirby Fighters and are familiar with all the different attacks then you&#8217;ll be at home during the boss fights in Kirby Star allies.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1280" height="720" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2022062210293900-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713.jpg" alt="Kirby Star Allies screenshot" class="wp-image-87699" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2022062210293900-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713.jpg 1280w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2022062210293900-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2022062210293900-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2025/08/2022062210293900-B20FAEC679A3A9320864DC374CFB9713-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></figure>

<div class="wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-1c3cc70c"><h2 class="uagb-heading-text">Pros and Cons</h2></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The best part about Kirby Star allies are the variety of characters and their attacks. For example, Magalor seems to have more than the average amount of special attacks and dodging abilities. Suzie can transform into a heavy attack robot. The mage sisters are great player characters too. One of the few examples of a player character that&#8217;s just as intense as the boss version.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">While the attacks are colorful and great, they also fill the screen sometimes. It can be hard at times to track your character. This is both funny and annoying at times. For example, we usually play as all three mage sisters plus Magalor. When those sisters all use their special attack plus Magalor&#8217;s giant sword it&#8217;s hard to see anything else. There&#8217;s some serious damage being inflicted amongst all that chaos.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">For this review, Kirby Star allies gets a 8/10 stars. It&#8217;s a great game to play with friends. This game isn&#8217;t as difficult as Sonic Superstars or Mario Wonder. However, it has as many characters and attacks as Kirby Fighters or Super Smash Bros. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Kirby Star allies combines a fighting game with a side scroller. It isn&#8217;t the most challenging game but is loads of fun. </p>

Strategy and battle games are still among my favorites. I like writing about games almost as much as I do playing them. My favorite games are: Moving Out 2, Out of Space and Overcooked All You Can Eat.</p>

<p>Although we finished most of these levels/bosses listed below they were still very hard.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. King&#8217;s Trial</h2>

<p>This level is from <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Frontiers-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B0BB13V163?crid=VC0MMWQKA67Z&amp;keywords=sonic+frontiers&amp;qid=1698547468&amp;s=videogames&amp;sprefix=Sonic+Frontiers%2Cvideogames%2C97&amp;sr=1-1-spons&amp;sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&amp;psc=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=embradesti_kidsart-20&amp;linkId=6e9b48ba73d60584fb40952c6da3cd7e&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored" class="ek-link">Sonic Frontiers</a> for the Nintendo Switch.</p>

<p>We still have not finished this boss rush thing. You have to fight three bosses with 400 rings (about 6 minutes because rings are the timer) It is super hard to do so.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/10/2023101206302400-85F8C21DFB6C68234E4132C1BEC3368D-1024x576.jpg" alt="sonic frontiers King's Trial" class="wp-image-83489" style="aspect-ratio:1.7777777777777777;width:590px;height:auto" srcset="https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/10/2023101206302400-85F8C21DFB6C68234E4132C1BEC3368D-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/10/2023101206302400-85F8C21DFB6C68234E4132C1BEC3368D-300x169.jpg 300w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/10/2023101206302400-85F8C21DFB6C68234E4132C1BEC3368D-768x432.jpg 768w, https://i.familygamesquad.com/uploads/2023/10/2023101206302400-85F8C21DFB6C68234E4132C1BEC3368D.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>We&#8217;ve made it to the last boss fight (The Knight) and have not finished it, what&#8217;s your record? comment below!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. Champion’s Road: Done Multiplayer</h2>

<p>This level is from <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-3D-World-Bowsers-Fury/dp/B08H9M7LDY?crid=159JNH8NWHGNU&amp;keywords=Super%2BMario%2B3D%2BWorld%2B%2B%2BBowser%27s%2BFury&amp;qid=1698547481&amp;s=videogames&amp;sprefix=super%2Bmario%2B3d%2Bworld%2B%2B%2Bbowser%27s%2Bfury%2Cvideogames%2C115&amp;sr=1-1&amp;ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc&amp;th=1&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=embradesti_kidsart-20&amp;linkId=4f15ffe8016a8b06663ef5a078768b1e&amp;language=en_US&amp;ref_=as_li_ss_tl" target="_blank" aria-label=" (opens in a new tab)" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored" class="ek-link">Super Mario 3D World + Bowser&#8217;s Fury</a> for the Nintendo Switch.</p>

<p>We did this level 2 players (as Peach and Rosalina), and then at the end of the level we joined in two more players, and finished. but all through the level, we saw Pink and Blueish things, which reminded Me of Peach and Rosalina, like is Nintendo saying that you have to do Peach and Rosalina?</p>

<p>We first did this level with all Yoshis but then we tried it again without Yoshis (or Nabbit) and actually fished it. No glitches, hacks or anything like that, we STILL finished it.</p>

<p>This boss was quite hard. Somehow we finished it. It took a while but we did it, with 2-players. The power up we used was Fire and Ice. Fire was for the easier version though. With Ice when you block you can&#8217;t get hurt and freezing them really helps a lot.</p>
