Moving Out 2 is a popular game around our house. On four player Switch days it’s a hit. We have moved tons of furniture in this game. While we are always up for a round of moving, we also enjoy games like Moving Out 2 as well.

Our library of Switch games includes many similar games to Moving Out 2. While we have no shortage of games to choose from, not all are co-op games. Kirby Star Allies is great co-op fun but it’s nothing like Moving Out 2.

What Are Co-Op Games?

Co-op games are any game that requires cooperation between the players. Naturally, it requires two or more players. In our case, we have four players, sometimes five. Sure, it’s exciting to watch people playing solo. But if two or more people can join in, why not?

Instead of player vs player action, co-op games have players on the same team to achieve a goal. The idea is to work together but working against each other happens from time to time too. It’s all part of the fun.

Winning Isn’t Everything

Having fun is the most important part of gaming. There’s a learning curve to every game. Which is only increased by adding cooperation to the mix. Learning to play is one thing, learning to play with others is another.

Getting everyone on the same page takes some time. It takes a lot of practice for a team to gel. In the meantime, the madness provides a lot of entertainment.

Once the team starts working together, winning is easier. Working together is just as satisfying as winning. There’s something about winning as a team that you don’t get from solo play. It sets co-op games apart from other competitive games.

Top Picks for Moving Out 2 Enthusiasts

1. Overcooked

Instead of moving, this game is about cooking. Up to 4 players can join in and try their hand at cooking. Orders need filled and the clock is ticking for you and your fellow chefs.

Preparing meals is a tad more complicated than simply moving objects. Gathering ingredients, cooking, serving, and washing is involved. Working together is crucial so you don’t duplicate efforts or waste time.

When Cooking is Fun

If you like Moving Out 2 then Overcooked is worth checking out. From the tongue in cheek jokes to the themed levels, this game checks all the boxes for fun found in Moving Out 2.

It’s easy to learn, the controls are intuitive, and anyone can pick it up. The storyline to Overcooked is more developed than Moving Out 2, but the main appeal of this game is the gameplay.

Overcooked

2. Very Very Valet

In lieu of delivering objects this game has you delivering cars. Customers don’t want to walk through a parking lot, so valets park or bring their cars to them. It’s up to you and your teammates to move all the cars around.

It’s a simple game but every bit as fun as Moving Out 2. There’s a pick up and drop off area in every level. Wherever you park the cars is up to you, but there’s usually a parking lot.

Driving Skills Aren’t Necessary

While you frequently transition between running and driving, it isn’t a racing game. You don’t to be a pro at Mario Kart to enjoy this game. To be sure, there’s drifting and turbo boosts. However, good driving skills aren’t required.

As long as the vehicle gets to the customer in time, that’s all that matters. Smoking engines, damaged fenders, or missing doors are acceptable.

It’s a simple game that captures all the fun of Moving Out 2 and adds to it.

3. Tools Up!

This game has you playing as a construction worker instead of a Furniture Allocation and Relocation Technician (F.A.R.T.). You and your teammates are remodeling rooms this time.

Which mostly involves painting walls or laying down flooring. There’s also some simple landscaping too. Just follow the blueprint and try not to make too many messes.

Virtual Remodeling

Paint an entire wall or rip up old flooring with the push of a button. If only it were this easy in the real world. Of course, none of the houses you find yourself exist in real life. Still, I wouldn’t mind incorporating some of the features in our house. Who wouldn’t love a pool wrapping around your house?

Much like Moving Out 2, Tools Up requires a lot of teamwork. Players have to coordinate efforts to avoid wasting time or making mistakes. Every player has to contribute in order to finish the level in time.

For such a mundane concept and appearance, Tools Up is surprisingly engaging and fun. If you enjoy Moving Out 2 then give Tools Up a try!

Out of Space

4. Out of Space

As an alternative to playing a mover, you can play as an interstellar janitor. Aliens and the goo they spawn from have overrun a spaceship. It’s up to you and your team to clean it up and restore power to every room.

You start with a bucket and a mop. However, there’s a galactic store that delivers many items to assist you in your quest to rid the ship of goo.

Out of Space is unique in that there’s no timer. The game is won when every room has power. Regardless if there’s still goo or aliens around. Take your time or rush through. Either way it’s a struggle.

It gets progressively harder to a point. So there’s pressure to get the job done. Yet, there’s a max occupancy per room. Begin by playing 6 room ships then work up to 12 room ships.

Not A Combat Game

While there’s aliens involved, there’s no actual fighting involved. Technically you stun the aliens with a broom or water. But they don’t attack you. There’s no jumping or attacking.

If you get covered in too much goo then they get cocooned. For solo play it’s game over. Multiplayer mode allows players to be revived.

Cleaning up the goo and aliens keeps everyone busy while occasionally eating and sleeping. Taking and keeping each room clean requires the efforts of everyone playing.

I’m a bit biased since this is one of my favorite games ever. But I think Out of Space is the best alternative to Moving Out 2!

5. Lumberhill

Instead of playing as a mover, Lumberhill has you playing as a lumberjack. These lumbejacks need to fill orders of lumber and herd animals.

Set in different locations, orders come in for for birch trees or prehistoric trees. Herding sheep, pandas, or triceratops is also possible.

Players need to work together in order to fill orders in time. There’s also fires, sharks, cliffs, monkeys, and other hazards to keep you from meeting your goals.

Wilderness Chaos With Friends

At times this game is especially chaotic. I would say it’s a bit more challenging than Moving Out 2. But if you and your friends are up for it, Lumberhill is a fun game.

6. Muddledash

In this game players are delivering a birthday present to a party. Apart from moving an object from point A to B, this game isn’t much like Moving Out 2.

I included it since Muddledash is just goofy fun. Which is exactly like Moving Out 2. This game has players falling all over each other trying to deliver the package.

Scramble to the Finish

This isn’t a co-op game. Players aren’t working together. It’s like Keepaway or Reverse Tag. Players are doing everything they can to stop each other.

While in concept it sounds like it would lead to animosity. It practice it’s hilarious. Every dash ends at a party, so everyone gets to celebrate.

Muddledash isn’t a co-op but it made my list of games like Moving Out 2 since we laughed while playing either of these games.

Multiplayer Couch Games

Whether it’s a co-op or player vs player, couch games are meant to be played together with friends or family. They’re simple, easy to learn games that anyone can pick up and enjoy.

While similar to party games, party games are short, incredibly basic minigames. Couch games usually have levels or rounds centered around a theme or challenge.

Couch games also differ in other multiplayer games by being local. There are many multiplayer games available online. But online games don’t offer the same experience as being in the same room as everyone playing.

Conclusion: Multiplayer Gameplay for the Win

In conclusion, couch games offer a good experience for everyone involved. Whether you’re playing or watching people enjoy themselves.

Moving Out 2 and Overcooked are some of the most popular couch games. Yet, there are many not so well known games like them. This list is a collection of games I’ve found similar to Moving Out 2.

Strategy and battle games are still among my favorites. I like writing about games almost as much as I do playing them. My favorite games are: Moving Out 2, Out of Space and Overcooked All You Can Eat.

After playing Moving Out for over 100 hours I think it qualifies as one of our favorite games. Moving Out is a simple game about moving furniture, boxes, and many items. It’s set in unusual houses, factories, and even in space.

Even though the game mechanics stay the same over 30 levels, many obstacles are added over the levels. Your agility, aim, and problem solving are put to the test as the levels gradually get harder.

The achievements in Moving Out range from easy to hard to hard to figure out. There’s no consistency. Keep trying to figure out problems, such as using a fridge to get to the trophy room instead of the buttons.

Basic Mechanics

In the controls check the box for toggle grab. The game is much easier with this enabled in my experience. It can also save you from falling by clinging to an item. Even though you’re dangling off the edge jump still works.

When moving large items through a doorway keep wiggling the joystick. Jumping while holding on to items also helps get items unstuck.

In general, I’ve found it’s best to pick up any large item by the smallest end. Picking up large items at their widest point makes moving and throwing it much harder in my opinion.

Larger items should be loaded first. However, they shouldn’t necessarily be moved first. Go inside and grab items closest to the truck first. Throw or leave smaller items near the truck for later.

If larger items are the first you encounter then grab and load them. Otherwise get the closest items first. Work your way toward the farthest point, in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.

Use the identify button frequently. Even if you aren’t near an item it prevents you from going toward empty areas.

After all the large items are loaded, load all the medium items such as tables, TV’s, etc. Lastly load all the small items. Jump and throw all the smaller items on top.

Helpful Advice

Ghost hack: On the AAAAAH-tari Office level keep slapping the ghost to push it on the elevator. Once there it won’t bother you anymore. Throwing the copier and water cooler to the lower level is faster than the elevator anyway.

Throw small boxes whenever you can. As players walk by with other items they’ll inadvertently push them closer to the truck. Two players moving larger items also drag smaller items closer.

Large items, such as beds, can be used to double up smaller items. Toss 1 or 2 smaller boxes on a bed then carry it all out to the truck.

You can flip items on their side or completely over to make moving or loading them easier. This takes some practice but is very useful throughout the game.

While standing next to a table, or any large item, keep spamming the grab and jump buttons. Once it starts to flip let it go but keep moving into the item. The item will flip as long as you don’t grab it.

When tables are flipped the legs won’t cling to door thresholds, stone walks, etc. This is how you move the odd shaped boxes on the factory levels. Instead of grabbing the box once its flipped, just keep walking into it to push it through the door.

This move also allows you to flip items out a window with 1 player. Get a bed near a window and keep spamming those buttons to get the bed started out the window. Then grab it and finish pushing it out the window.

This move is also good for loading the truck. If an item won’t fit just keep spamming the jump and grab buttons to push items higher and farther onto the truck.

How to Break Doors

Breaking down doors. They only break when pressed fully open. Slapping doors just results in being slapped back. Here’s three easy methods we use to break a door.

Walking method. Push a door all the way open, move back a little, then immediately push it back all the way. If done right the second time the door is pressed fully open it breaks off.

Break it as you move large items. Once more than halfway through the doorway with a bed or couch, keep pressing it against the door. The second or third wiggle breaks door off. A bed works best.

Jump method. This takes practice but can knock doors off with 1 jump. Walk into the door to get it started moving then jump at it just before it’s fully open. You have to aim for the edge farthest from the hinges, plus time it so you’re at the highest point in your jump when the door is smashed fully open.

Moving Out is in our library of 4 player Nintendo Switch games. We enjoy 4 player co-op couch games. Moving Out is near the top of our list of most played games. So is Moving Out 2.

Basically, you play as movers in Moving Out. The goal is to load furniture, boxes, and appliances on a moving truck. There isn’t a time limit but you get more stars for quicker times.

In Packmore city you’ll be loading up the moving truck at 30 locations. There are unusual houses, weird factories, and even places in outer space. While there is a loose narrative culminating in a final boss. The story line is subtle and the boss level just adds a twist to regular level.

All the corny jokes and 80’s theme make this game endearing. It’s a very fun game considering the premise is just moving items from point A to B.

Along the way players need to jump, toss items, and time their movements to be successful. Ghosts, animals, and vines hinder players as well as many occupational hazards. Players need to avoid being ground up, burned up, crushed, drowned, or run over. Everything is G rated and non-violent.

Players get unlimited lives so it’s about having fun instead of intense gaming. The graphics are adequate for this game. You don’t need high definition graphics for moving a couch or TV.

The sounds are well done too. The glass shattering, farting, and slapping never get old. The music and appearance is inspired by the 1980’s. The Arcade mode is also influenced by the 1980’s.

The Arcade and VHS Superstore modes are great add-ons. More challenging than the main game for sure, but worthy additions. Instead of a user manual there is a quick training level to teach you the basics.

Additional characters and skins can be unlocked. Packmore Island is an expansion pack that adds another 13 levels and 39 achievements.

Why Moving Out?

If you’ve ever moved before you’ll appreciate the chaos in Moving Out. From dodging cars to throwing everything out 2nd story windows, this is moving at its finest. Breaking TV’s or ripping out power cords from refrigerators are nice details.

If you’re looking for a fun multiplayer Switch game to play with friends Moving Out is an ideal choice. It offers co-op action for multiple players but it’s also good as a solo game.

If you’re looking for player vs player competition this isn’t the game for you. There isn’t any shooting or fighting. Mostly, Moving Out is full of obstacles and problem solving.

Many levels involve simple puzzle type barriers with multiple solutions if you’re creative. You work out ways to reach boxes, move items more efficiently, or avoid losing them altogether.

If you like games that aren’t too difficult or appealing to younger players Moving Out is a good option. We found the assist mode helped reduce the difficulty with the timers, loading the truck, and moving heavier items. Having the items disappear on the truck and being able to lift heavier items without 2 players really helped.

We tested Moving Out with 1 player, 2 players, 3 players, and 4 players. It was surprisingly well balanced. Some multiplayer games suffer from wildly different levels of difficulty depending on whether there are an even or odd number of players.

Comparable Games

In my experience Moving Out shares elements with other 4 player Switch games such as Out of Space, Overcooked, Very Very Valet, Lumberhill, Tools Up, Home Sheep Home (Shawn the Sheep), and Totally Reliable Delivery. I enjoy Moving Out better than those games with the exception of Out of Space. That game is my favorite.

Moving Out isn’t as challenging as Overcooked, Lumberhill, or Tools Up. Primarily due to the simplicity of Moving Out. You don’t need to perform complicated tasks or fight the clock. It also isn’t as dependent on working in synchronization as the other games.

You need to work quickly and occasionally work together for some items. However, it’s more like the goofy fun of Totally Reliable Delivery and Very Very Valet.

It doesn’t have near the level of problem solving as Home Sheep Home. Still, Moving Out does have players working out ways to get to boxes, move them, or avoid being destroyed.

My two favorite games are Out of Space and Moving Out. They don’t have much in common except the graphics look like they were made with the same engine. Both are simple games but Moving Out is laid back. While Out of Space requires your full attention.

Pros and Cons

Moving Out has simple controls and gameplay. I didn’t have any problems with either the controls nor the mechanics of the game. When games just work as they should, it’s easily overlooked. I have no complaints about the jumping, throwing, picking up items, or game physics.

Many items are unwieldy to move but that’s intentional. Such as table legs sticking on stone walkways. The physics of moving awkward shaped or top heavy items was good. Almost too good.

The only drawback I found is some of the hazards are sensitive. Meaning even if you think you have enough clearance, chances are the fire, guava, lasers, or grinders would still get you. This was minor and easy to work around.

A benefit is the assist mode. I don’t understand the amount of timer based games that lack a way to adjust the timer. It’s like playing a first person shooter that has only one mode: extremely hard.

Moving Out even says if you aren’t having fun then turn on the assist mode. That’s what it’s there for. Packing the truck is like Tetris, if you aren’t good at that the assist mode eliminates packing the truck.

If you like to goof off, see how much damage you can do, or just can’t stop slapping everything the assist mode gives you more time to have fun.

Speaking of fun… Rake Island, Cash Box Incident, and especially Boulder Dash. They’re levels in the VHS Superstore. Definitely some of the most entertaining bonus material I’ve ever seen in a game.

Review Summary

Our Moving Out review gives it 9 out of 10 stars. It’s a fun and easy couch game. Multiple players or solo, it offers loads of fun. Whether it’s loading the moving truck or the add-on games, there’s never a dull moment.

Some games are designed from the ground up to be challenging. Moving Out is designed from the ground up to be fun. Each level offers enough variance to keep the whole game fresh. New problems, hazards, animals, and locations are periodically being introduced.

After playing Moving Out I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted fun Switch game.

We played all the levels in Moving Out so I wrote up this walkthrough. While there is a loose narrative ending in a final boss. It’s subtle. The first time we played to the end we didn’t put it together until the last level.

Playing Moving Out is more about having fun as opposed to intense gaming. Most levels are basically the same. You pick up items, carry them to a moving truck, then load them. You can throw smaller items. Larger items require two people to toss.

Along the way are obstacles, glass, fans, animals, fire, and lasers to name a few. You can take as much time as you need, but better times earn better medals. There are Gold, Silver, and Bronze times. Once you complete all 30 levels then you can compete for Platinum times.

Getting Started

After selecting your character and skin you start on the Packmore map. You control the moving truck. The top left and top right buttons can be used to select the level. Or you can just drive there plowing through traffic and cause mayhem.

We started with mandatory training to learn the basics and controls. Such as jumping, picking up items and throwing them. Don’t forget to slap everything, it’s an important skill to master. After you get through mandatory training you’re ready to start moving.

In settings, we always check “toggle grab” on in the controls menu. It comes in handy later. I found turning on the assist mode also makes life easier. The assist mode offers:

Longer time limits

Objects disappear on delivery

Skip level on fail

Lighter 2P items

“Moving in” auto snap

Longer time limits makes earning Gold and Platinum easier. Objects disappear on delivery saves you the hassle of arraigning every item on the truck.

Moving Levels

Once everything is setup and the training is complete you can start moving. Here’s all the levels:

Holly’s Home

Pepperoni Palace

The Hoop House

Poolside Pad

Jerry’s Apartment

Casa de Cliff

Summer Chalet

21 Slick Street

Snottsberry Farm

Packmore River

The AAAAAH-tari Office

Dread Manor

Roundabout Mansion

Obadiah’s Orchard

Lenny’s Mansion

Neighborhood Watch HQ

Deserted Depot

Sealed Storehouse

Locked Lever Lab

Flamethrower Factory

The Chase

The Floor is Guava

Stairway to Melon

Guava Run

Satellite Base Alpha

Revolution Station

Guavatron

Contraband Cluster

Pack Rat Planet

The Final Move?

The levels get progressively harder. Adding hazards such as cars, ghosts, rakes, etc. Then with Lenny’s Mansion buttons are added. We needed to place objects on the buttons to gain access to certain areas or make our path shorter.

The warehouse levels add conveyor belts, fire, saws, grinders, and switches. The switches open doors, turn off fire, or speed up conveyor belts. We had to time the belts speed and switching the fire to get items on the truck.

Packmore River and The Chase mix things up. They are a little different. Packmore River is like the classic 1980’s Atari game Frogger in my opinion. We moved items across a river by jumping or moving on floating logs and alligators.

The Chase had us jumping across moving cars onto a train. Then tossing items from the train to the truck. This level is notably harder than previous levels in my experience. Levels from this point on get a bit harder.

Space Levels

While 3 levels are still on the ground in Packmore. All the levels after The Chase have the same 2001: A Space Odyssey theme. Everything is white. Odd white containers with green goo are added. Guava is now a hazard, similar to lava. Huge fans and moving platforms are also added.

For these levels patience is key. Taking risks results in swimming in the guava. The obstacle patterns are simple and easy to overcome if you take your time.

These levels tease the buildup to the final boss. Hints are dropped and *spoiler alert* the Rat King is the secret client *spoiler alert*. You don’t do head to head battle with the boss. Instead there are several stages of moving hazards.

Once you get everything loaded on the truck, the Rat King’s ship breaks apart and you win. There’s still one final item to move. You’ve been given the key to the city and need to get it on the truck while items rain down from the sky.

Bonus Material

After you complete the final level you can redo every level for Platinum times. For some reason Roundabout Mansion is harder to get the Platinum time than the other levels.

You also can do Moving In. These levels are the same except you move items from the truck. In my experience placing the items is a bit frustrating. The auto snap in the assist mode really helps for the Moving In levels.

The Arcade

These levels put your moving skills to the test. Definitely harder than the main levels. Although some are easier than others. They are:

Fan Service

Spin or Alive

Rolling Start

Trick Shot

Topsy Turvy

VRogger

V vs R

Carouspikes

iSAW

Tight Rope

Set in a grid type environment, it’s more of an obstacle course than gathering items to a truck. You still need to deliver a box or item. However, there are many obstacles you need to overcome to get to the truck.

The assist mode helps some, but completing all the arcade levels is difficult.

VHS Superstore

These levels are a bit more like the main levels. Each level is unique though. The VHS Superstore levels are:

The Luggage Rescue of ’84

The Packmore Small Business Soccer League Semi-Finals

The Boulder Dash

The Traffic Jam of ’82

The Haunted Labyrinth

The Legend of Rake Island

The Great Flood of ’83

Shredding Season

The Cash Box Incident

The Jam in Space

The Mysterious Client Caper Reveal

The Parade for the Greatest Moving Company in Packmore History

Instead of an obstacle type course, each level is an episode of Packmore history. You can play soccer and basketball. Plus the client reveal and parade levels can be replayed.

The Boulder Dash is hilariously funny. It may take a dozen or more tries to win but each attempt is funnier than the last. Rake Island is also goofy fun. Shredding Season and Cash Box Incident are notable entries too.

Moving Out Summary

Playing Moving Out is loads of fun. The levels start off easy and gradually get harder. But if you take your time all the levels are doable.
