The general idea of the game is to give you a topic then have your team come up with as many answers as they can by prompting them with the beginning letters. The team who scores the most points wins.

Keeping track of everything gets a bit messy, but overall not bad. Plus the game is a lot of fun. It’s a great game for a large group of people at a party.

Anyone who likes word games is going to enjoy this game. If you also enjoy team games then this game is ideal for you. It isn’t a quiz or trivia game. There really isn’t even a strategy. Really Loud Librarians is primarily about how many and how quickly you can recall items, given a topic.

For example, you’ll be asked to name “things you fear”. Of course, some wiseacre could come up with wild answers such as Kentucky, igloos, or anteaters. Anything to score points.

It’s up to the players to decide whether an answer counts. I’ll say it’s kind of hard to object to an answer when you’re laughing so hard. But that’s the type of game you get with Really Loud Librarians. It’s a good party game.

This is an ideal game for anyone who enjoys word games. Phrases and titles are part of it too. It’s also a game for people who like team games. The pressure isn’t on any individual. This game is a team effort.

We tested this game with 5 players. We played at a standard kitchen table. The birthday girl got to play on both teams. We followed the rules and used chips to mark each teams progress around the track.

Really Loud Librarians seems most like Scattergories of all the games I’ve played. In both games, there’s a timer and you have to recall as many items as you can. In Really Loud Librarians, you don’t need to write anything down. Everything is done by moving pieces and parts on the board.

Score is kept by the pieces in the middle of the track. Chips are used to assist keeping track of laps and bonus points. Scattergories uses a dice to pick a letter whereas whatever letters fall in the circles are used in this game.

Really Loud Librarians also bears similarities to Boggle, Scrabble, Password, or Catch Phrase. Mostly because they’re all word games, not trivia or strategy games. Most of the games are individual efforts while Really Loud Librarians is definitely a team game. All are also great games at parties.

Really Loud Librarians isn’t very difficult to learn. The basic premise is simple and anyone can be good at this game. Our group thoroughly enjoyed playing this game.

My only criticism is with the track and moving parts of the game. Players had to lean in to see which letters were in play during the game. Also, keeping track how many times you went around the track, the bonus points, and the timer wasn’t easy.

We had to assign players from the other team to keep track of the timer, bonus points, and number of laps. We also didn’t bother changing the color of the track piece for each turn. The different librarian pieces were neat, but we found them unnecessary.

Overall, our Really Loud Librarians game review gives it 9 out of 10 stars. We had a great time playing this game. Our answers were off the wall at times and other times it was impressive to see just how many items players could name. One player single handedly made several laps with their ability to name titles!

We’re a bit biased toward word games, but Really Loud Librarians earned a spot among our favorites.
