Here are some tips for this game. These tips include strategies to play the minigames and more.

If you’re like us we don’t really do VS we like to do Co-op even if it’s supposed to be VS. In some minigames like the Big-Top Quiz minigame you can work together. Each player can watch a Toad and what their ball’s picture looks like to win together.

Another minigame that can be turned co-op is Hot Cross Blocks. If each player works together to all get across by selecting different paths and calling out what path they chose so someone else doesn’t chose it also.

Thwomp the Difference, Gate Key-pers, Sled to the Edge, Treasure Divers are also minigames that can be played co-op.

Even if you’re playing 1-player you can still play co-op along as you have friends with you. Like in the Sleight of Shell minigame you can all watch for the right shell and be more likely to succeed.

In the Match! That! Item! minigame it’s good to try to remember what comes before the item you need. So you can press it then and spam the button to get the right item you need. For example, if you need a Super Star press the button at Yoshi’s Egg and then spam the button to get the Super Star.

In the Blame It on the Crane minigame for the team side it’s best to stay in the inner ring and move slowly until you get to the crane then speed past and repeat to survive in this minigame.

Tricks

It’s fun finding tricks in the game. We usually end up laughing when we find tricks that are basically pressing the “win” button, lol.

The Party Mode saves your progress every turn. You can use this to close and re-open the game to get the Jamboree Buddy you want. Because it saves there is a Jamboree Buddy but not which one.

In the Burger Builders minigame if you watch the light colored spots line up with the ring’s light colored spots. If you wait until they a line then you can get “Nice” every time.

In the Short Stack Chef minigame, if you watch closely, you can see a red circle that appears on the pancake. Wait for it to disappear completely before flipping it to get a “Nice”.

She loves to play as Princess Daisy in the Super Mario Games, Her favorite games change a lot but right they are: Mario Party Superstars, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Pretty Princess Party.

This game is lots of fun overall. There are 112 minigames total, some of the minigames require Motion Controls. 9 of the minigames are updated versions of classic Mario Party minigames.

There are some coin minigames but they don’t have a special category. In coin minigames the goal is to get coins. There are no winners or losers just along as everyone gets coins. The headings in gold are coin minigames.

4-Player minigames

4-Player minigames also know as Free-for-all minigames, everyone plays a minigame and tries to win. There are 29 minigames in this category.

Lumber Tumble

Try to stay on the planform while avoiding shy guys’ logs that chase you.

Big-Top Quiz

Watch each Toad roll around on balls and try to remember the Toad’s picture, color and more.

Camera-Ready

At the beginning they show you a picture, you have to look around a mini hub world and match the picture.

Scare-ousel

Try to survive on a moving carousel with obstacles.

Snag the Flags

Collect the most flags while running around on a ball like planet.

Sandwiched

Try to avoid getting squished by sandwiches.

Hot Cross Blocks

Try to chose the best path to get across.

Light-Wave Battle

Ground pound to send out shock waves.

Thwomp the Difference

Behind each Thwomp is a picture of either an apple, orange, grape or banana. You have to guess which is the odd picture.

Cold Front

Try not to fall off or get blown off.

Hot-Hot Hop

Try to avoid getting hit or falling off.

Domination

Mash the A button to hit the most Whomp like dominoes. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 4.

Three Throw

Try to score baskets to get points. Golden baskets are worth the most points. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 4.

Granite Getaway

Try not to get crushed by the Boulder. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 6.

Tilt-a-Golf

Tilt the controller using motion controls to get the ball in the hole.

Night Lights

Shale the controller via motion controls to light up your lights.

Hammer It Home

Use motion controls to hammer in the nails.

Twist and Sort

Tilt the controller using motion controls to sort the Bloopers and Cheap-Cheaps.

Shuttle Scuttle

Use motion controls to steer your spaceship. Try not to get hit.

Tiny Triathlon

Using motion controls swim, bike and jump to the goal.

Pickax Dash

Using motion controls, shake the controller to get through the rock first.

Gate Key-pers

Everyone takes turns trying to guess which key unlocks which gate. Try to remember what has been tried to guess which key goes where.

Sled to the Edge

Press the button at the last second, but don’t wait too long or else you’ll fall! Keep in mind you slide a little after pressing the button.

Rinks to Riches

Skate in a giant skate and collect coins.

Treetop Treasure

Jump from either platform and try to get coins.

Treasure Divers

Try to get a treasure chest to the top without getting hit or running out of air

Platform Peril

Try not to fall off while collecting coins.

Stamp Out!

Try to stamp the most of your color onto the paper.

Trample-line

Jump on the Ant Troopers for as long as you can without getting hit by the Spiky Ant Troopers.

1-vs.-3 minigames

One person plays against a team of three players. There are 12 minigames in this category.

Sunset Standoff

The team of three has to try to avoid getting hit by the one player.

Cookie Cutters

Bot sides must cut cookies with the right cookie cutter.

Unfriendly Flying Object

One player tries to hit the team with spiky blocks.

Lost and Pound

The one player hides in one of the colored spots while the team must guess where their hiding.

Arch Rivals

The one player must try to shoot the targets while the team (using motion controls) has to try to avoid them hitting the targets by swaying from side to side.

On-Again, Off-Again

The team has to avoid getting hit by the Grrrols while the one plays tries to hit a switch to turn on/off platforms to help them hit the team.

Broozer Bash

One player tries to hit the team side while on a giant robot Broozer.

Cage Catch

The team tries to catch the one player in a cage. One member on each team has different job, one hits the catch button and the other two move up and down and left and right.

Income Stream

Both sides need to try to collect coins. The one player side rides Plessie and the team ride jet skies.

Blame It on the Crane

One player tries to catch the team side using a crane the team side tries to avoid being caught while rolling around in hamster balls. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 4.

Snow Brawl

Both sides fight in a snowball fight. The one player side has the help of AI monkeys. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 6.

Squeaky Shakedown

The one player tires to hit the team side with a hammer to steel their coins while the team side has to avoid the one player.

2-vs.-2 minigames

Play team minigames with two on each team. There are 12 minigames in this category.

Rocky Rope Race

Hold the button to hang on, let go when your partner has a hold of the next ledge.

Pickin’ Produce

Try to put the fruit in the right baskets. Sometimes you need to pass fruit back and forth to get it to the right one.

Prime Cut

Try to cut the Steaks in half.

Dorrie Pedal-Paddle

Shake the control using motion controls to row. One player makes it move left, and the other player steers it right.

Robo Arm Wrestle

Shake the controller to win.

Shadow Play

Try to match the shape shown in the middle.

Match Makers

Try to the find the match from a pile of cards.

Defuse or Lose

Try to keep the flame from reaching the King Bomb-omb. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 5.

Jump the Gun

One player has to try to make a path for their teammate while the other player must cross that path to the goal. This minigame was originally from Mario Party 6.

Two-Axis Taxi

One player moves left and right while their teammate moves up and down.

Tricky Turntable

Try to hop on the button to get the most coins.

Coin Corral

Using motion controls, lasso Tresure chests. The big Tresure chests you have to lasso together.

Duel minigames

Duel it out with 1-on-1 minigames. There are 5 minigames in this category.

Fast Fishing

Shake the control via motion controls and try to catch the fish before the other player does.

Slappy-Go-Round

Ground Pound to make the hand slap the other player. You can also fake them out by just pressing the jump button once instead of twice.

Fuzzy Heights

Use the control stick to move upwards and try to get higher than the other player.

Stone-Eye Bowling

Move the bowling ball and try to move it to the best place to hit the most pins.

All the Marbles

Race through loads of Marbles to get to the goal.

Item minigames

Play minigames to try to get an item. There are 5 minigames in this category.

Roll With It

Use motion controls and tilt the joy con to pick the item you want.

Prize Line

Try to time pressing the button to connect the line to the item you want.

A Stone’s Throw

Press the button at the right time to get the item you want.

Flip ‘n Find

Watch he cards and pick the item you want by matching that item card.

Prize Drop

Time dropping the ball to get the item you want.

Showdown minigames

This is a brand-new type of minigames, in these minigames you try to win a Jaboree Buddy. They play similiter to Free-For-All but with three stages or more to each minigame. There are 10 minigames in this category.

Mario’s Three-peat

Play three different classic minigames in a row.

Starting with Leaf Leap from Mario Party 5, move the control stick and press the button to jump from leaf to leaf. Then in Bumper Balls from the verry first Mario Party, bump everyone else off the edge. Finally, in Shy Guy Says also from the first Mario Party you need to press L or R to raise the same flag as Shy Guy.

Luigi Rescue Operation

Try to solve puzzles to rescue Luigi. If you need any help solving the puzzles there’s a TV in each room showing the answer.

In the first room you need to put together a picture. Then in the second room you need to find the odd stature. Next in the third room you have to step on the tiles in the right order listed. Then in the fourth room you need to push the barrels out of the way to get through. Then the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth room repeat the first five. Finally in the ninth room you need to enter the password shown on the floor.

Peach’s Day Off

Play different minigames themed with helping Peach do stuff on her day off.

First you have to carry her boxes without dropping any. Then you must choose a donut tray that someone else hasn’t chosen. Finally, you have to collect fireworks for Peach in whatever color she wants.

Daisy’s Field Day

Try collect tokens on obstacle courses. There are three stages.

Wario’s Buzzer Beater

Try to answer the questions correctly.

Waluigi’s Pinball Arcade

Play Pinball and try to get the most points.

Yoshi’s Mountain Race

Race to the goal on a Yoshi.

Rosalina’s Radical Race

Using Motion Controls, race on a snowboard and do tricks.

DK’s Konga Line

Match Donkey’s beat by press L, R and both at the same time.

Jr.’s Jauntlet

Avoid getting hit, catch chickens and pop balloons to get points.

Koopathlon/Survivathon minigames

Play minigames that each have three stages and have you trying to get coins. There are 14 minigames in this category total, 5 in Survivathon and the rest in Koopathlon.

Noggin Knock

Try to hit the Monty Moles to get coins.

Brick Breaker

Try to break all the bricks by moving side to side.

Gold ‘n Brown

Try to bring out the baked bread before it burns.

Spike’s Gambit

Try to collect coins while avoiding the spike bars.

Down the Hatch

Push the coins and dolls down the hatch to get coins.

Lane Change

Try to collect coins you can speed up by pressing the button. Move left and right to avoid obstacles.

Coin Conveyor

Try to make full rows to get coins.

Which Door Has More?

Try to make a quick guess which door has more. Like for example there is a room with 12 goombas and 6 hammer bros, you can guess goomba has more without actually counting them all.

Sky-High Cannons

Time launching out of a cannon to get more coins.

Burning Bridges

Jump to avoid getting hit.

Castle Hassle

Run away from Imposter Bowser and avoid getting hit.

Sleight of Shell

Watch the shell that doesn’t have any bombs and try to chose that one after the shuffle.

Fire Away

Press the button to get higher but avoid getting hit from above or below.

The Floor Is Falling

Avoid falling through the floor.

Kaboom-Squad minigames

Eight player co-op minigames but note to play eight players you need to play online, or you can do 1-player on one switch offline. There are 10 minigames in this category.

Juiceworks

Three people try to gather apples, two people try to fill up bottles with apple juice and another three people try to put the bottles onto a delivery truck.

Ball Volley

Everyone must bounce the ball across the field.

Ballistic Bingo

Try to shoot the targets so that there in a row to make a “Bingo”.

Bath Bob-ombs

Throw Bomb-ombs away from the gate into the water.

Chomp Wash

One player tries to clean the Chain-Chomp while the rest must stop the water pipes from leaking.

Match! That! Item!

Try to stop the roulette at the right time to match the picture.

Trading Cards

Try to put the eight cards in the right order to make a picture or number them from one 1 to 8.

Ski-daddle

Press L and R to move forward. But you have to keep in tempo with the music.

Look This Way

Use the control stick to look in the direction the arrow points.

Puzzle Pandemonium

Try to put together a puzzle as fast as possible.

Rhythm minigames

Play minigames timed to music, these minigames are co-op. There are 10 minigames in this category.

Soup Troupe

Try to chop the ingredients in time to the music.

Parfait the Course

Fling the fruit onto the Parfait in time with the music.

Whisk Cream

Sterr the cream in time to the music.

Spread ‘n Butter

Collect butter onto the knife and then put it on in time with the music.

Short Stack Chef

Flip the pancakes in time with the music.

Burger Builders

Put on the ingredients in time to the music.

Footlong Frenzy

Push the bun onto the sandwich in time with the music.

Copycat Curry

Put on the spices in time to the music.

En Barb!

Jab the ingredients in time to the music.

On the Beet

Pick the vegetables in time with the music.

Boss minigames

Play Co-op minigames boss battle minigames where you solve puzzles, collect items and more. There are 5 minigames in this category.

Dragoneel Slayers

Collect shells and avoid Urchins, Cheep Cheeps and Whirlpools. Press the button to throw the shells at Dragoneel when they come out of the water.

Mega Stingby Stompers

Try to ground pound the mega Stingby.

Mega Rocky Wrench Wreckers

Try to shoot the mega Rocky Wrench and avoid getting hit by the wrenches.

Boss Sumo Bro Blitzers

Connect the pipes to complete the puzzle and shock the mega Sumo Bro.

Bowser Crashers

Try to attack Mega Imposter Bowser.

Why Super Mario Party Jamboree?

Super Mario Party Jamboree is good just like other Mario Party games. This game is up to 4-players on one Nintendo Switch like the others. This game has 5 new boards to play on along with 2 classics. There are brand new minigames and some old with a mix to it.

There are new modes to play too, Koopas’s Flight school is pretty cool. In that mode you use motion controls to fly Mario and Luigi in an open world, competition mode or co-op mode. There is also Rhythm Kitchen and Toad’s Item Factory which are 4-player co-op modes.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is pretty detailed. Each character has their own jingle when it’s their turn in Mario Party and there’s a hub world with little scenes to take pictures of. The graphics are well done and it’s bright and colorful.

This game sort of combines the features and systems in  Mario Party Superstars and other things from past Mario parties and Super Mario Party.

How We Test Games

For testing games we use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.

Whenever possible we play multiple players. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL, and for PC games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. This game is up to 4-players on one Nintendo Switch.

Pros

There’s lots of new content like minigames, boards and new modes just like Super Mario Party.

This game has more playable characters than any other Mario Party before. The total is 22 with Pauline and Ninji being unlockable.

They let you use 2 joy-con controllers unlike Super Mario Party. There is some minigames you have to use one but that’s only motion control minigames.

Cons

There’s not much cons to this game. Some minigames were in other Mario Part games like Shy Guy says but there is plenty of new content to make up for that.

There is lots of cutscenes. A lot of them you can’t skip and a game that would be 30 minutes turns out to be 40 or 50. The cutscenes are nice and all but once you see it 50 times you just want to skip them.

But the biggest con is there is 39 out of 112 minigames you can’t do 4-player. There’s 34 1-player and 5 only 2-player. There is still a lot of minigames to play but close to half isn’t 4-player.

Summary

Overall, Super Mario Party Jamboree is great. With the new boards, minigames and modes to play makes it a good game. Although you might think, “What’s the difference between all the Mario parties”? well I have a post about that you can read to learn more.
