MakeRoom – Game Review
MakeRoom is one of our games that might not be as well known as other games, but it’s lots of fun, it’s cute and it’s cozy. In the game you decorate rooms, gardens and camper-vans. There’s over 100 items to decorate with and you can even make custom furniture! In my review you’ll find out more about it’s charm.

Why MakeRoom?
MakeRoom is a creative sandbox game that gives you the freedom to build, arrange, and decorate your own cozy spaces. It’s less about surviving or competing and more about expressing yourself through interior design and small, personal touches. The game provides a simple but flexible toolset, letting you choose furniture, colors, and layouts to craft rooms that reflect your imagination.
What makes MakeRoom shine is its balance between simplicity and creativity. The controls are straightforward, making it easy for anyone to pick up and start designing, but there’s also a lot of depth if you enjoy experimenting with placement, combinations, and style. It’s satisfying to see an empty space come alive with just the right arrangement of objects.
The overall vibe is relaxing. There are no timers, pressure, or stress—you play at your own pace, creating environments that feel warm and personal. That said, players looking for a more traditional “game” with goals or challenges might find the experience a bit too open-ended.

How We Test Games
For testing games we use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.
Whenever possible we play multiple players. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL, and for PC games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. This game only 1-players on PC/Steam.
Pros
Relaxing, creative gameplay with no pressure.
Easy-to-learn controls, welcoming for all players.
Wide variety of furniture and design options.
Great for expressing your own personal style.
Cozy atmosphere that encourages experimentation.
Custom furniture that you can make, edit and export into you own games.

Cons
Lacks structured goals or challenges for players who want progression.
May not appeal to those who prefer fast-paced gameplay.
Repetition can set in if you’re not motivated by self-expression.
Summary
Overall, MakeRoom is a soothing and creative sandbox that’s all about self-expression. If you enjoy decorating, tinkering with layouts, or simply making spaces feel like your own, it’s a lovely game to relax with. For fans of cozy design sims, this is a little gem that encourages imagination above all else.
