Mario Kart World – Review

We’ve played lots of Mario games and we loved our other Mario Kart games. Although we don’t own the game, we’ve read about it and watched videos about it and we loved it a lot. Here is my review for the game based on what we’ve learned.

Mario Kart World - Review

Why Mario Kart World?

Mario Kart World has loads of new features, let’s start by talking about those.

Frist off there’s dash food. Dash food changes the player’s outfit when collected and then unlocks it for the player to use at any time. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe there isn’t much outfits other than some colors variations (like Yoshis, Shy Guys etc.) and then there’s versions of some characters like Metal Mario, Gold Mario, Cat Peach and Tanooki Mario.

The track variety in Mario Kart World is impressive, pulling from classic games as well as offering new takes and seasonal themes. There’s also routes that you can take that can lead to other courses making it more open-world racing.

Then there’s pit stops. Pit stops is where you’ll need to fuel up after so long of racing which is a new feature to the Mario Kart series.

The game looks vibrant. Characters and karts are well animated, and the backgrounds are colorful and creative. Performance is smooth, and the art style of the characters are adorable.

How We Test Games

For testing games we use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.

Whenever possible we play multiple players. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL, and for PC games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. This game is up to 4-players on one Nintendo Switch 2.

Pros

Great addition to the Mario kart series.

Global multiplayer and competitive ranking.

Fun character and kart collecting.

Colorful outfits for characters.

New features like Dash Food, Pit Stops etc.

Cons

Kart customization does not return.

Summary

Overall, Mario Kart World is a fun and fast-paced game on the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s great for fans of the Mario Kart series and racing games. Although it’s not cheap it’s still a great game. We hope to be able to get it one day.
