Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party – Review
Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party is a recent addition to our collection of over 80 Nintendo Switch games. It’s load of fun, in the game you play as Inspector Gadget in different goofy disguises and play fun minigames! Anyway, in my review for the game you can find out more.

Why Inspector Gadget Party?
Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party is a party game starring the famous, clumsy detective Inspector Gadget and his friends from the classic animated series. It combines mini-games, exploration, familiar characters, and plenty of silly moments inspired by Gadget’s adventures. Rather than being a serious detective game focused on solving complicated crimes, it is more about having fun, competing in challenges, and enjoying the wacky world of Inspector Gadget.
This game is an interesting choice for fans of the cartoon who want to see Gadget and his gadgets in a video game. However, whether it is a great party game depends on how much you enjoy mini-games, how much variety you expect, and whether you plan to play alone or with other people.
Gameplay and Story
Gameplay and Story
The story revolves around Inspector Gadget travelling through time to help save Metro City from the plans of his longtime enemy, Dr. Claw. With the help of Penny and Brain, Gadget must work through different challenges and collect the items needed to stop the villain.
The time-travel premise fits the series well because Inspector Gadget has always been full of ridiculous inventions, unusual situations, and over-the-top villains. It gives the game an excuse to bring players into different settings while keeping the focus on comedy and familiar characters.

The gameplay mixes exploration with a collection of mini-games. Instead of spending the entire adventure investigating clues or following a complicated mystery, players spend much of their time completing activities and challenges. This makes the game relatively easy to understand, especially for players who prefer straightforward objectives over complex gameplay systems.
One of the biggest attractions is seeing Inspector Gadget’s world recreated in a playable format. Fans who grew up watching the cartoon may enjoy revisiting its characters and humour. However, players expecting a full detective adventure with lots of mysteries to solve may find that the party-game approach is different from what they imagined.
Graphics, Music, and Characters
The graphics use a colourful 3D style that brings Inspector Gadget’s cartoon world into a new format. Metro City is the main place to explore, and the locations help give the game a sense of adventure between the mini-games. The character designs are another important part of the experience because the game is built around a recognizable cartoon franchise.
Inspector Gadget’s personality is a big part of the fun. He is well known for his silly behaviour and his tendency to misunderstand situations, and that goofy atmosphere suits a party game. His gadgets are also a natural fit for the gameplay. They help the game feel connected to the cartoon rather than like a completely unrelated collection of mini-games.
The music is another nice touch. The Inspector Gadget theme is memorable, and familiar musical elements help create a nostalgic feeling for longtime fans. The overall presentation may not be as polished as some larger modern games, but the cartoon-inspired style has its own charm.
Mini-Games and Multiplayer
The main attraction is the collection of 16 mini-games. These challenges offer different activities, so players can switch between them instead of repeating one type of task throughout the entire adventure.
The mini-games are generally straightforward, which makes them accessible to younger players and people who do not regularly play video games. The competitive element can also make simple activities more exciting, especially when several players are trying to win.
Local multiplayer is the game’s biggest strength. Playing alongside family members or friends can make even a basic challenge entertaining because everyone can compete, make mistakes, and laugh at the results. It could be a fun choice for a family game night if everyone enjoys quick party games.
However, the number of mini-games does not necessarily mean there is a huge amount of variety. Some activities may feel familiar to anyone who has played other party games. Once you understand how a challenge works, you might not feel the need to replay it many times.
The game also has a solo mode, so you do not need other people to experience the adventure. Nevertheless, the multiplayer features seem better suited to the game’s party-focused design. If you mostly play games alone, the experience might feel less exciting after you have completed the available activities.
How We Test Games
For testing games we use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.
Whenever possible we play multiple players. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL, and for PC games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. This game is up to 4-players on one Nintendo Switch with a 1-player story mode.
