Party Friends – Review

Party Friends is a recent addition to our collection of Switch games. It’s a fun, cute and colorful game that reminds us of the Party Party Time games. Here is my review on the game.

Party Friends - Review

Why Party Friends?

Party Friends is a casual party game designed for local multiplayer with a collection of 25 minigames. It features bright, colorful visuals and easy-to-learn mechanics, making it accessible for players of all ages and skill levels.

Party Friends is a great pick up and play game much like Muddledash. There are different themes for each minigames, like for one minigame you’re at the beach and another you’re in the snow.

As I said before, this game reminds us of the Party Party games which are party games with lots of fun minigames that are quick to play. It’s also very colorful but has more content than Party Friends but both are fun games.

The characters and graphics are verry cute and colorful. The music is catchy as well.

Party Friends is Available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, the game targets fans of classic party games like Mario Party but lacks the polish and variety of its inspirations. We play it on the Nintendo Switch.

How We Test Games

For testing games we use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.

Whenever possible we play multiple players. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL, and for PC games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. This game is up to 4-players on one Nintendo Switch.

Pros

Party Friends is great for pick up and play. if you don’t have that much time to play this game is a good choice because it’s fast and easy to just pick up and play.

It’s Local Multiplayer Focus and supports up to four players, fostering fun and competitive social experiences.

The Bright and Colorful Settings are great. The environments include beaches, farms, forests, and winter resorts, offering visual variety.

Cons

Some minigames feel poorly implemented, with issues like input lag or confusing mechanics. For example, games like “ice canoeing” or “burger” are frustrating due to poor controls, camera tracking and can be hard to understand what you need to do.

There’s lack of depth Compared to similar titles. It suffers from limited content and less engaging gameplay.

Summary

Party Friends offers moments of fun, it’s suitable for younger audiences or short bursts of gameplay but lacks the depth and refinement to play for hours. With a low price point, it’s worth considering for casual players, but it’s unlikely to be the kind of game you play for hours on end.
