Nancy Drew: Danger by Design – Review

Nancy Drew: Danger by Design is yet another great Nancy Drew game in our collection of games. This game is a lot of fun much like the other Nancy Drew PC games, but here’s my full review of the game.

Nancy Drew: Danger by Design – Review

Why Danger by Design?

Nancy Drew: Danger by Design is the 14th installment in the Nancy Drew PC game series by Her Interactive. This point-and-click adventure takes Nancy to Paris, France, where she goes undercover to investigate a mystery surrounding Minette, an eccentric fashion designer whose bizarre behavior has raised concerns.

Nancy is tasked with uncovering why Minette has become increasingly erratic and reclusive, while also dealing with threats, strange disappearances, and Parisian intrigue. Players explore iconic locations such as a fashion studio, a café, and historic sites, solving puzzles, gathering clues, and questioning suspects.

The game introduces fashion design elements, including a minigame for assembling fabric patterns, as well as engaging puzzles like deciphering coded messages and uncovering historical secrets tied to the World War 2.

How We Test Games

For testing games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.

This game is only 1-player and it’s for PC/MAC. We’ve been playing together on two computers on the Steam version for this game.

Whenever possible we play multiple players. We use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL.

Pros

For “scary things” This game doesn’t have that. There’s a person who wears a creepy mask but other than that there aren’t any “scary things”.

Just like most Nancy Drew PC games, this game has beautiful visuals, varied puzzles and so much more like a engaging mystery with a mix of modern fashion and historical intrigue and Quirky characters that add depth to the story.

There are also educational things to learn in the game. For example, the game takes place in Pairs so there’s things about Paris and French to learn about.

Cons

Alas, like most Nancy Drew games, once you solve the mystery you know who the culprit is. Although after a year or so you might forget.

This game has in-game money that can be sometimes hard to earn. But it’s not that big of a con.

Summary

Overall, Nancy Drew: Danger by Design is a solid mystery game with a fascinating premise, stylish setting, and a variety of puzzles. While some challenges can be frustratingly obscure, the game’s Parisian atmosphere and engaging story make it a fun adventure for fans of the series.
