Nancy Drew: Alibi in Ashes – Review
Nancy Drew: Alibi in Ashes is another among my favorite Nancy Drew PC games. This game is a lot of fun for many reasons and in my review I will tell you all about those reasons!
Why Alibi in Ashes?
Nancy Drew: Alibi in Ashes is the 25th game in the popular Nancy Drew video game series. In this game, Nancy finds herself in the middle of a mystery when the town hall in her hometown of River Heights burns down, with her being the prime suspect. As Nancy attempts to clear her name and solve the mystery, she must call on her friends to navigate through a web of clues, suspects, and hidden secrets.
One of the features of Alibi in Ashes is the immersive storyline that keeps players engaged from start to finish. The game is filled with challenging puzzles, interesting characters, and a compelling plot that unfolds as players progress through the game. The graphics are well done and the game provides a nice balance of exploration, investigation, and puzzle-solving.
This game has you not just playing as Nancy Drew but her friends too! for most of the game Nancy is in jail so you must choose to play as Bess, George or Ned. Which I think is pretty cool.
How We Test Games
For testing games we use a Ryzen 7 1700x CPU, AMD RX580, running on Win 10. Tests are done with up to 5 players. We take turns playing and evaluating games.
This game is only 1-player and it’s for PC/MAC. We’ve been playing together on two computers on the Steam version for this game.
Whenever possible we play multiple players. We use a Nintendo Switch firmware version 2H. Hardware includes Joy-con and Pro controller on a large screen TV. We also use a Nintendo 2DS, DS XL.
Pros
Engaging storyline that keeps players on their toes. The graphics are also detailed that bring the small town of River Heights to life.
Challenging puzzles that test the player’s deductive skills. Plus a Good mix of exploration, investigation, and mystery-solving elements.
Ability to switch between playing as Nancy Drew and her friends, adding diversity to the gameplay.
Cons
Limited replay value once the mystery is solved. This is a con for Nancy Drew games and mystery games in genre.
Some players may find the puzzles to be too difficult, making it frustrating sometimes.
Summary
Overall, Nancy Drew: Alibi in Ashes is a solid addition to the Nancy Drew series and will satisfy fans of the previous games as well as newcomers to the series. With its engaging storyline, challenging puzzles, and well-crafted atmosphere, it is a must-play for any mystery enthusiast.
